The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says if elected as President, he will be more accountable to Ghanaians than his main contender, former President John Mahama.
Speaking at the NPP International Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday March 23, 2024, Dr. Bawumia explained that "apart from my proven track record as Vice President, hard work, credibility and vision for the future of Ghana, another reason I should be voted for is that I will be more accountable to the people of Ghana than John Mahama".
He expounded; "As President, I will be more accountable because I will have another opportunity to seek the mandate of the people. Mahama has just one term and he won't come back to Ghanaians to seek re election so he won't be accountable."
Dr. Bawumia added that Ghana needs a leader with credibility to solve the nation's problems and kick out corruption, stressing he has proven through the policies he's spearheaded and without a shred of doubt that he is the problem solver and anti-corruption crusader.
"Ghana needs problem solvers, generational thinkers and people with innovative ideas...I am a problem solver, and a generational thinker with innovative ideas. I have a solid track record as Vice President to prove it", the Veep said.
Buttressing his impactful contributions as Vice President, Dr. Bawumia referred to a number of policies initiated by him which have and are addressing the country's perennial problems.
Among the tall list of initiatives are the digital national identity system, which he noted, has addressed the age-long lack of national identity and the national property address system to solve the lack of property address and identity.
He also mentioned the mobile money interoperability which has resolved the issue of financial exclusion and promoted a cashless society as well as the digitalisation of public services to promote efficiency and reduce corruption.
Dr. Bawumia further highlighted the delivery of essential drugs to remote areas through drones among other policies including "One Ambulance, One Constituency" and the Agenda 111 hospitals.
The NPP presidential candidate added he has demonstrated a stronger commitment to the fight against corruption as Vice President far more than former President Mahama did during his regime.
He referenced how the digitalisation of public services are effectively eroding corruption.
"What policies did former President Mahama initiate to fight corruption as President or Vice President?", he questioned and answered; "if you ask him, he cannot state one because he was not committed to fighting corruption as Vice President and President".

These are all naked facts and bitter truths that the NDC will, against all odds, refuse to swallow. But they are what they are and no amount of diabolical and mischievous propaganda can undo them except a committed and visionary leadership that embraces the modernity of the times and digital technology as a tool to leapfrog some of our infrastructural deficit. And clearly, that leadership is in Dr Bawumia but not in Mahama of the NDC, period!
It definitely means they are artificially creating all the problems. Their corrupt and selfish desires are the cause of the problems Ghana is facing now, yet as per their nature, they lie that COVID and a certain war that doesn't concern us are the reasons for the mess of our nation and we have gulIible people in this country believing them. You see Bawumia telling us that for his first term, he'll control his corruption activities so that the mess of the nation is minimised. And this is because he'll be asking us for another term in the future, but for his second term that he won't be seeking for any elections again, it will be a replica of the current situation, they will show us the pepper. It's ok for people to have low IQs, it's ok for people to setup.id at times, but it is not ok for anyone to vote for Bawumia after exposing this horrible mentality on top of all the challenges they have brought the country.
Eiii chairman no go stop talking and stick to his digitalization comedy and bubble heads laughter .
Bawumia is a joker, why is he not talking about ECONOMY? Nana Addo smuggled Bawumia through back door is Economy so what is he talking about
Heerrh someone should advise this clueless NPP to know what to say in their campaigning. I heard Afenyo markin making a similar analogy and I thought it was his own miscalculated idea, but for Bawumia himself to say the same thing makes it very alarming. It just tells that the incompetence extends beyond governance to crafting a campaign message. How dare you tell us that you will be accountable because you will have another opportunity to seek for an election if you're voted this time. So when you come back the second time, we should automatically assume that you won't be accountable in the second term because you will not have the opportunity to be seeking for another election? Is that why Akufo Addo is behaving terribly in his second term? For Bawumia to be able to say this, he doesn't deserve the vote of sensible and analytical Ghanaians because his second term would be worse than Nana's and he will be doing the sinister agenda of the people pushing him. Once he wins a first term, chances that he'll lose a second term is slim because he'll use our resources irresponsibly to win the second just as he backed his boss to do and we are the ones reaping those effects today. We should thank God that they're the ones revealing their own evil mentality
