I've Proven To Be A Better 'Problem Solver' And Will Do Much More When I'm Your President - Dr. Bawumia

The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says if elected as President, he will be more accountable to Ghanaians than his main contender, former President John Mahama.

Speaking at the NPP International Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday March 23, 2024, Dr. Bawumia explained that "apart from my proven track record as Vice President, hard work, credibility and vision for the future of Ghana, another reason I should be voted for is that I will be more accountable to the people of Ghana than John Mahama".

He expounded; "As President, I will be more accountable because I will have another opportunity to seek the mandate of the people. Mahama has just one term and he won't come back to Ghanaians to seek re election so he won't be accountable."

Dr. Bawumia added that Ghana needs a leader with credibility to solve the nation's problems and kick out corruption, stressing he has proven through the policies he's spearheaded and without a shred of doubt that he is the problem solver and anti-corruption crusader.

"Ghana needs problem solvers, generational thinkers and people with innovative ideas...I am a problem solver, and a generational thinker with innovative ideas. I have a solid track record as Vice President to prove it", the Veep said.

Buttressing his impactful contributions as Vice President, Dr. Bawumia referred to a number of policies initiated by him which have and are addressing the country's perennial problems.

Among the tall list of initiatives are the digital national identity system, which he noted, has addressed the age-long lack of national identity and the national property address system to solve the lack of property address and identity.

He also mentioned the mobile money interoperability which has resolved the issue of financial exclusion and promoted a cashless society as well as the digitalisation of public services to promote efficiency and reduce corruption.

Dr. Bawumia further highlighted the delivery of essential drugs to remote areas through drones among other policies including "One Ambulance, One Constituency" and the Agenda 111 hospitals.

The NPP presidential candidate added he has demonstrated a stronger commitment to the fight against corruption as Vice President far more than former President Mahama did during his regime.

He referenced how the digitalisation of public services are effectively eroding corruption.

"What policies did former President Mahama initiate to fight corruption as President or Vice President?", he questioned and answered; "if you ask him, he cannot state one because he was not committed to fighting corruption as Vice President and President".
