The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency has demanded an annual report from the presidency, requesting that the President complies with the Presidential Act, 1993 (Act 463).
According to the minority, the Act mandates every President under section 11 to submit an annual report to parliament within three months after the end of each financial year.
On his X (formerly twitter) page Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote, "It is totally reprehensible that virtually every year I need to remind President Akufo-Addo to comply with the Presidential office Act, 1993, (Act 463) which mandates every president under section 11 to submit an Annual Report to Parliament within three months after the end of each financial year."
"It is only through the submission of his report that Parliament would know the current numbers of Presidential staffers employed at the Presidency, their ranks and others attached to that office as at close to the previous year."
Writing further, the lawmaker stated that, a formal search in Parliament conducted on the 8th of April, 2024 indicates that President Akufo-Addo has still not complied with Act 63 when legally, he should have submitted the 2023 Annual Report by the end of March.
"The continuous breach of the Presidential Office Act by the President impedes the conduct of our parliamentary oversight and our lawful mandate in pursuing financial accountability," he added.
"This cannot be a proud legacy for President Akufo-Addo, Ghana deserves better. We demand the Annual Report NOW!" he stressed.

There is nothing wrong if you have to remind the president every year. After all what are you doing in Parliament. In an case it is not your responsibility so get lost with this mischief.
This is not your job but that of parliament so it is the Speaker who must do this.Ablakwa stop this mischief.
