National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has disclosed that he did not have time to listen Veep Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because he was watching AFCON's Match between Nigeria and South Africa.
According to him, the AFCON match was more "important" to him and "entertaining" as well, than listening to the vice president speak.
Speaking on Okay fm's Ade Akye Abia programme, he explained that after listening to snippets he recorded from the vice president speech about his plans for Ghana when he is elected to be president, he realized that they were nothing short of campaign messages of Mr. John Dramani Mahama.
"I was watching football and did not get time to listen to the vice president but i can tell you that he has made our work more easier because he has reiterated John Mahama's campaign message. I recorded it because Nigeria's match was more important to me than what Bawumia had to say...The match was more entertaining than what Bawumia had to say, you know it is hard listen to lies. You get infuriated listening to lies so I recorded it and I've listened to some portions.
"The vice president seems to deceiving himself because the very things the NDC spoke about and fought against are the very things he says he is going to abolish or scrap when he is elected president and i wonder to ask myself where was he when his government was implementing those policies," he quizzed.

I will cancel E-Levy, betting tax, VAT on electricity, Emissions Levy, others – Dr Bawumia
The Vice President of Ghana on Wednesday, promised to cancel the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy), Betting Tax, and the Emission Levy, taxes being implemented by his government if he is elected president in the upcoming general elections.
Dr Bawumia made this promise when he addressed Ghanaians on his vision for the country, as president on February 7, 2024, at the University of Professional Studies, Auditorium, (UPSA) auditorium.
“Taxes on gambling will be scrapped under my administration. There will be no emissions tax under my administration. 15% tax on electricity will be abolished by 2025 if it’s still on our administration,” he said.
On the E-Levy specifically, Dr Bawumia indicated that the tax hinders the government’s goal of running a cashless economy.
“To move towards a cashless economy, however, we have to encourage the population to use electronic channels of payment. To accomplish this, there will be no taxes on digital payments under my administration. The e-levy will therefore be abolished.
But some say though the vice president before his announcement had stated that he was against the implementation of these taxes, he never objected to them when they were being discussed at Cabinet.

Asiedu Mosquito and arrogance huuuuu huuuuu
Who cares? Watch your football. You NDC guys are irrelevant to Ghana.
full.ishh old man
Most of you NDC are foreigners and Nigerians at that no wonder you were part of Mahama’s government who like Nigeria had wanted to normalize Dumsor for Ghanaians and made millions dealing in generators and plants. Should the so called educated elites do not support the future like electric cars , not mandatory national service etc but support Okada legalization and edey bi keke eeeiiii… let me reserve my comments. The Kings and Chiefs must know better that it is against our very nature to admit a rejected leader or chief. It is a taboo from North, south , east and west of Ghana
I guess the agenda has been set for NDC to respond. Simply put, Dr. Bawumia was forthcoming with the exact things he would do if elected. What is our grandfather Mahama going to do if given the chance once more? We demand concrete policies and programmes.
Chairman then move to Nigeria and let your party campaign there.
twii nkye gboomo ngbo. Asiedu nketia the low- minded politician.
This is the kind of leadership the NDC represents. Even the simplest etiquette, an unwritten code of conduct, will teach you this: ''If somebody is telling you a ridiculous story or all that may have the earmarks of being a big lie, do no for your best interest, give him a suspicious look so much as to say I know you are lying to me'', let alone such an inspiring speech that shows hope and a transformational leadership shift in the policy of ideas to develop our nation as against baseless propaganda and defamation of political opponents to score cheap political points. The entire leadership of the NDC is unable to make sense of the speech. And for Chairman Asiedu Nketia to hit so low, it is questionable whether the NDC as a whole is credible as a political party to be entrusted with the affairs of a beautiful nation like Ghana. Then, the speech of Dr Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the NPP, has found inspiration and widespread appreciation among the good people of Ghana, especially the youth. I would therefore strongly advise the NDC to rethink its approach to multi-party opposition politics. A multi-party democratic dispensation underpinned by policies that reflect party ideologies and traditions that offer alternative, better solutions to improve the lives of the electorate. I do not believe that simply making your opponent look bad and corrupt will win you elections. If it does, you are not accountable to anything and kleptocracy sets in to maintain political power. In other words it bleeds corruption, the very rot we want to get rid of.
Asiedu Nketiah is lying, and he has been lying all these years. He even lied on oath at the Supreme Court when he could not admit that the NDC didn't collate the elections results. Meanwhile, whist campaigning for the NDC chairmanship, he told the NDC supported and delegates that Ofosu Ampofo led administration didn't have the capacity to collate the results, so they were lying about having their own results when they had none. He and the NDC listened to Bawumia from the beginning of his speech to the end. In fact, they listened to him at their headquarters and analyzed and strategized on how to counter it and all that. Deal with the serious policy issues and direction he is proffering for national discourse and stop the infantile politics of comedy, personal attacks.
SO ARE THIS PEOPLE GOOD LEADERS WE MUST VOTE FOR?THEN GO AND LIVE IN NIGERIA AND EAT THE AFCON
