Flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has asked the party’s elections committee to ensure that the upcoming November 4 Presidential primary was organised under fair conditions.
He said if the organisers make any mistake and conduct the elections under any unfair circumstances in order to favour one candidate, he will face off with the party in equal measure.
Speaking at his Kumasi Showdown walk on Saturday, September 30, 2023, the maverick politician said he will not remain calm like the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, for anybody to cheat him.
"I'm not like Alan who is gentle, let them try..." Ken warned amidst thunderous cheers from his supporters.
Mr. Kyerematen recently resigned from the NPP citing intimidation and unfair treatment towards him and his supporters in the NPP's flagbearership race.
He has now formed what he calls Movement For Change to contest the upcoming 2024 Presidential elections as an independent candidate.
Addressing supporters who took part in the Showdown Walk, Mr Agyapong said he will operate "an eye for eye" policy during the election and that he will not allow anyone to bully him.
He also claimed that he had been offered huge sums of money to step down in order to allow Vice President Bawumia easy passage.
He said he has rejected all such offers, including a promise to make him a running mate to Dr. Bawumia.
Ken Agyapong said he remains resolute and that he will win the November 4 election.

Kennedy Agyapong is our best bet to save our dear Nation Ghana. The vice President does not appeal to the Ghanaian voter because of his shambolic performance as the Vice President. Bawumia must leave the political seen together with Nana Addo. They have failed woefully
To sum up this man is extremely unintelligent. He may have bullied his way through business yes but he is outright rubbish. He and Mahama do not deserve anywhere around the presidency.
He was offered running mate slot? Joke of the decade ..Okro mouth candidate who has turned an internal election to vilification of the Vice President. The NPP as a party need to deal with this issue.
I sometimes wonder with what audacity Ken makes certain pronouncements, threats and warnings against those who do not like the way he does things as a politician who aspires to be President of Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana. Ghanaians, by nature, are too tolerant of certain ferocious characteristics, so they tend to create their own monsters. So, in Ghana, you just have to be a little rich and boastful and you can freely allow yourself to insult anyone as your subordinate and you are easy to get rid of. I firmly believe that Ken is mentally ill and needs the help of a psychiatrist.
Where is the leadership of the party? Why are they allowing this? Has this man not crossed the line for anti party behavior yet? Can he say or do anything worse than what he has done already? They better act now and put this ***barred word***, emotionally unintelligent, selfish man in his place before it's too late. Who does he think he is? To hold the party ransom and recklessly spew ***barred word***, peddle falsehoods, dish out vain threats all in the name of internal party elections? After saying all these things can be he still be in the party come 2024? Every well meaning party member will pray that this disgrace of a politician will quit the party after his looming massive defeat on Nov 4. I cannot believe that what was once an honorable party with decent learned gentlemen and ladies has now been hijacked by rascals who think because of their money they can misbehave and throw tantrums whene'er they want. Again the leadership should act now and call him to order!
These noisy utterances from you will even drive your supporters away from you. I like you as a business man but not fit for president. You cannot keep your mouth shut. You will end up sending your own party to opposition and that will affect you more than me.
Who is going to vote for you? You don’t even respect the electorate internally. How much more votes can you win fir the party externally? Wo kasa saaaa!
Hmmmnnn, my advice to all the presidential aspirants is that they should be circumspect in their choice of words. Who ever emerges as the flag bearer of the NPP after the November 4 contest will need the support base of the others to be able to execute a successful campaign in 2024. At times silence is golden, if someone makes unguided statements against another and the one offended decides to keep quiet as if he or she didn't hear anything, it sends a strong signal to the one who made those unguided statements that this person is simply telling me he or she is more matured and going forward such unguided statements will stop. I keep saying the current NPP leadership doesn't seem to appreciate the enormity of the task ahead. 2024 is not going to be easy. Even with a United front, it is still going to be a daunting task to " break the 8". Whoever wins the NPP flag bearer ship will be fighting 2 battles. An internal and external one. the internal one is how to convince the sizable number of the party faithful who feel disappointed about the way and manner the party and government is being managed, fact is that NPP supporters are not happy at all. Now convincing them to make sacrifices again like they did in 2016 is not going to be that easy, fear those who are quiet, you can never tell what is in their minds. The external one has to do with the NDC who looks battle ready for 2024. Remember the tables have turned, they will be attacking and the NPP will be defending so the pressure will be on the NPP . It was not due to lack of message that the NDC lost in 2016, it was about whether the people listened. NPP will definitely have a message in 2024 and the people will hear, but will they listen? Allan is a popular figure so when he resigned it became news all over. What about the lesser known ones who are quietly waiting to take a decision when the ballot paper is handed over to them on 7 December, 2024. Human beings are not like animals where if you need 100 sheep and you are able to get 99 you lock them in a pen and now go out to look for 1 to get your 100. It is not as if the number of people who voted for the NPP in 2016 and 2020 are still standing intact for the party to use to "break the 8". From every indication this current NPP seems not to have learnt from the NDC's defeat in 2016. This was the same NDC that won in 2008 and 2012 and within 8 years ie 2016, a minority party's candidate beat them (NDC) by close to 1 million votes. It is the same human beings ( voters) who are still around. The NPP should be very careful. If the ( NPP) ie president, Vice President, ministers, MMDCEs, CEO's including MP's though their positions are elected one's were to join public transport everyday or sit with ordinary people everyday and hear what they are saying, hmmmmm. The earlier they stand up, the better. John Mahama is definitely not the alternative but( Akuffo Addo and his appointees) have made him ( Mahama) look like a saint. This is the motivating factor for him to want to come back. Currently he's having a field day. As we speak nobody in the NPP can tell what the future of the party looks like as they keep shooting themselves in the foot on a daily bases because the centre is not holding. Truth be told, am NPP, but as for this current one deaaaa, it is a direct opposite of the kufour one.
Well, dislike Ken for his flaws but like him for his courage. We have come too far as a country to take president who can't bite even a candy. After President Kuffour we didn't need any soft president because none after him has manage the economy well. Rawlings was not much educated but his courage and fearless stand made him better than all. We don't need any soft president anymore.
Well said, my brother Abam Mensah (UK). This is just an internal election, but the noise is too much. You only help those who come to you, not all Ghanaians. If you don't take care, you will laugh at the wrong side of your mouth on November 4.
