STC Chief Executive Officer, Nana Akomea says he is highly optimistic that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential election on November 4.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia's emphatic victory in the party's super delegates election on Saturday, August 26 is a good indication of his performance in the upcoming main election.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia polled 629 votes, beating his competitors with an overwhelming 68.15% margin, to come tops on the top five candidates' list.
"I have no doubt that it is the same thing that will happen. Looking at the results, winning at every single Region, he is the heart desire of the party. So, when the electoral college is expanded and the people contesting is few, I expect his margins to go higher," Nana Akomea told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show.
He added; "I believe Dr. Bawumia's 70 will go beyond 75 to 80" percent in the November 4 election.
The four candidates joining Dr. Bawumia into the November 4 election are; Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who garnered 132 votes to come second on the list, former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen with 95 votes jumping to third, former Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto who got 36 votes to be fourth and former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko together with a leading member of the NPP, Francis Addai-Nimoh both polled 9 votes.
The party will conduct a run-off on Saturday, September 2 to decide between Boakye Agyarko and Thomas Addai Nimoh to complete the list of top five.

@Antwi, Yours is hatred. free your mind and open your heart
You people know that there's no reasonable person who will vote for Bawumia. Counting on your ruthless strategies and bribing with looted booties shows the kind of people that you are. The time for the coin to flip where these tactics are rendered valueless is coming
You people speak with impunity without reasoning. You speak as though God is your lieutenant. Clearly, you have placed premium on your stomachs and your selfish ambitions that only send our country backwards in the long run. How hard you people try to make bawumia appear like an angel we don't know. But am not surprised, it is your usual business, that is how you projected Akufo Addo and now he has become an albatross around our necks. Agenda boys and girls, corrupt to the core and rotten without any conscience. Just when Ghanaians are about to have a good riddance after the exit of Akufo Addo, you want to impose his protege on us? Another of his kind? Failure like none other? Ghanaian people, shine your eyes this time, at least if we don't get an ideal candidate at this elections, we can punish evil and wickedness exhibited under Akufo Addo and Bawumia's leadership
It seems Dr. Bawumia's performance at the NPP Super Delegates Conference is surprising his detractors more and more, such that their wishful thinking is becoming their last resort beyond any rational thinking to suggest that the grassroots will vote against him. This assumption comes from those who want Mahama not to contest the presidential election against Bawumia. In that case it will be an easy win for the NPP presidential candidate, Bawumia.
