Former President John Dramani Mahama appears to be broke after defeats in the last two general elections.
The 2020 presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is now appealing to Ghanaians to come to his aide to fund the party activities
He has therefore appealed to some 500,000 “willing” Ghanaians to donate a minimum of GH¢10 to help fund the upcoming National Delegates’ Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Congress is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 17, 2022 of which over 9,000 delegates are expected to converge at the stadium to elect national officers of the party for four years.
In a Facebook post, John Mahama on Monday, December 5 that said “The party needs your support to fund this Congress. “I am inviting 500,000 willing Ghanaians, NDC supporters, sympathisers, and friends to donate a minimum of 10 Ghana Cedis each to help us fund the congress. You don’t have to be a member of the NDC to donate.”
Interestingly, he shared a MoMo number which the donations should be sent to.

This is camouflage, he has plenty money in the polytank. It is just a political strategy to get some sympathy for him and his criminal organization called the NDC. Where did you get to conduct your district and regional elections? When he goes to a function look at his convoy and it will tell you he is not broke. Also is he the finance officer of the party? I will rather donate my money to the Osu children homes. You and your cohorts, making Ghana a cash cow and milk dry, you still want people to donate to your Ali Baba and the forty ***barred word*** elections. Use your share in the fifteen power purchase agreement which has already cost the country Ghc 19billion.
I wish Ghanaians would rather support free SHS rather than this ***barred word*** congress, is it the same ex-president mahama or different mahama? The one who used tax payers money to buy houses and cars for small small girls and used tax payers money for bus branding or different Mahama? Is he the same person sponsoring people to demonstrate on the streets of Accra after loosing the 2020 election? Is that The Mahama who took bribe from Kanazue the Burkina Faso contractor? So Ghanaians are going to pay for the congress for you to come back and bring back dumsor or what? What is he coming to do? ex-president mahama don’t know shame at all, do you want to come back and cancel teachers and nurses allowances right? Ghanaians please reject mahama airbus immediately because he is dangerous than Covid 19.
There is nothing wrong for a presidential candidate of a political party to ask the party's supporters to donate. Definitely some people will come out to donate even more than the amount requested. The challenge is that these are the very people who will be neglected, forgotten and shown disrespect by those who will be fortunate to get appointment as ministers, MMDCEs and CEO's when the party wins power.Currently we have ordinary party supporters who are miles ahead of some would be parliamentary candidates and potential appointees, these are the very people who soon forget who they were when the party is/was in opposition. I know of a political party that was struggling to come to power, all silent and vocal party members were identified where ever they were, these people made sacrifices in cash and in kind to propel the party to power. Today such people have been relegated to the background by inward looking, greedy, selfish, empty pride appointees some of whom were single room and chamber and hall occupants sharing a common bathroom with other family members or tenants. Today they have forgotten where they are coming from. This is where the challenge is, if not there are party supporters and symphatizers who can take up some of these bills, unfortunately a ' nothing man ' ( i.e. Someone who virtually had nothing yesterday ) is the one who will show disrespect to such individuals when they become ministers, presidential staffers, MMDCEs and CEO's. This is what is discouraging a lot of people from given in their all to political parties. So the ministers, MP's, MMDCEs and CEO's in the Mahama era can't come together to contribute and fund this one day congress but the ordinary party supporter majority of whom got nothing are being called upon barely six years after the party lost power to contribute. Hope those in power today will learn lessons from this. Human beings are very important than money, power or influence.
