The Majority Caucus in Parliament has threatened to boycott Parliamentary sittings if President Akufo-Addo does not relieve Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the Minister of State at the Presidency, Charles Adu Boahen of their positions.
Addressing a Press Conference on Tuesday, Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi said the two need to be fired over their failure in dealing with the current economic challenges.
Failure to do this, they will stage a boycott, according to a report filed by Peace FM’s Parliamentary correspondent, Emmanuel Akorli.
Findings made by Emmanuel Akorli indicated that about 80 majority members have signed a petition calling for the dismissal of the two.
2023 Budget
Meanwhile, the ruling Government is expected to present its 2023 Budget Statement and Economic Policy on November 15.
However, the NPP MPs claim they won't be present if the Finance Minister and Charles Adu Boahen are not sacked.
“If our request is not responded to positively, we will not be present for the budget hearing, neither will we participate in the debate,” Mr Appiah-Kubi indicated.
No Reshuffle
President Akufo-Addo has already indicated that he has no cause to reassign, reshuffle or sack any of his appointees.
He has expressed his satisfaction with his ministers especially: the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Trade And Industry, Alan Kyerematen; Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta; Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffuor Awuah; and the Minister of Food And Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
“Many of them for me have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at. If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call,” he has indicated.

The majority MP's should stand firm, they were elected by the people just like Akuffo Addo. If he refuses to heed to their call they should tell him in the face that he is destroying the NPP. The NPP is not Akuffo Addo's personal property. He's not the only one who sacrificed for the party. What kind of human being is he such that he's not ready to listen to anybody, if it's about intelligence you would never, never be president. If Kufuor was behaving this way, can you ride on the back of the NPP to win an election to be president? Those 80 MP's will have their names written in gold he they stand their grounds. If he refuses to listen to their demand they should away from him. He can add their parliamentary seats to his portfolio. We voted for you to be president, you didn't vote for Ghanaians to qualify to be voters. Well meaning NPP supporters should not sit aloof and watch Akuffo Addo destroy the party. The party is not for him. I pity anyone who will take over from him. He's making his enemies laugh at him. In 2016 Dr Nyaho Tamakloe said "Ghanaians will learn a bitter lesson of leadership if he wins " . Undoubtedly Nyaho Tamakloe have been vindicated . He will say " i told you so ". As for John Mahama, he's currently having his best laughs ever. This is not the Akuffo Addo we heard of and voted for, he's disgracing all NPP members. President kufour indeed knew what he was saying when he admonished NPP delegates to chose a leader who can hold the NPP party together. Today see what is happening. Kufuor, come for your stone, indeed you saw far.
Thanks Majority for thinking Ghana . We are said to have trusted man who we thought would perform better than the previous government .Now he does not listen to anybody . We wonder he may be under spell?
When your mother is dead and you say she is asleep. The day the body starts smelling no one will force you to say she is dead.
Nana Addo has failed not only as President of Ghana , but as leader of the party . Now things fall apart, the party is in crises.Executive on one hand and MPs on the other hand . Have we heard before MPs threatening their own government. This is indicative that internal structures are not working and the party is falling apart . As fro 2024 , NPP should forget it
This is political immaturity at the highest level. In the midst of the challenges you could not come together to suggest measures the will help address the problems but asking for the head of a minister. You the majority MPs are core part of the problems facing the nation.
I am surprised you do not understand the stands of the 80 majority members. Between the Finance Minister and BOG governor, who is the superior? The BOG governor I believe reports to FM, and a if subordinate is under performing, the superior must kick him out. If he is failing to take action, then he the FM should go.
The majority side of NPP MP are not serious themselves .They are sitting a bad precedent in the party .Now they are giving the foot soldier the power to misbehave anytime any minister perform poorly for his removal . What basis are those 80 MPs stand to call the remover? Between the Finance minister and the governor of BOG who should be fired .? The BOG officials are trading with the dollar privately and you turn around to blame the finance minister .Those 80 MPs are the most incompetent both in the house and in their various constituencies and trust me those MPs will loose their primaries come 2024
Nana do not mind them All are being paid by NDC so forget about them Keep Ken the ***barred word*** there to protect our corrupt investment Nana if you change Ken we the AKYEM ***barred word*** villagers and evil village black ***barred word*** ***barred word*** will suffer Let collapse NPP and leave it with Asante’s Well done Nana for collapsing our party We will remember you for yourself evil deeds May your Kyebi chief bless you
