Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has raised red flag over the performance of Ghana's currency against other currencies.
According to the seasoned Journalist, the value of Ghana's currency keeps aggravating as he disclosed latest research showing that the cedi is lying far below countries whose economies are doing far worse than Ghana.
He noted that the cedi is worse than other economies equally facing hostile economic crises, thereby listing Lebanon as one of those countries whose currency is doing better than the cedi irrespective of their living conditions.
"If you want a currency that is not performing better in the entire world, Ghana is second to Sri Lanka . . . from the bottom, we are second to Sri Lanka. Our currency is performing even worse than the currency of Lebanon which is in a major economic crisis," Kwesi Pratt on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, expressed concerns over Ghana's ailing economy.

To Kwasi prat, there’s nothing good in the country called Ghana, the country is on its worst situation but was better under mahama dumsor , Eiiiiiii kwasi prat,!!!!!. You are not the only sensible person in this world ooooooo, Some of us outside Ghana know what we are going through due to the pandemic and Ukraine war. How much is yam and plantain in Ghana compare to the US ? How much is the rent situation in Ghana compared to the US? Ghanaians are blessed but still complaining because of deception from mahama airbus, painting Ghana black as if Ghana was like heaven when he was the president
Kwesi Pratt is a dishonest intellectual, and I will strongly plead with you to take most of what he says with a pinch of salt, because he speaks blindly in favor of his paymasters. Kwesi Pratt does not need to go as far as Lebanon but to Nigeria to appreciate that the Ghana cedi is stronger than the Naira of oil-rich Nigeria. Then, one Ghana cedi will fetch you 42.84 Nigerian Naira and one USD is 678 Naira, whilst cedi is 10.
These NPP foot soldiers why don’t you find some work to do and stop this unnecessary comments? Do you think our currency is performing better? Hell no! If you are an expatriate and you are being paid in Ghana cedis and you make payment using your debit card outside Ghana, you will appreciate what Mr. Pratt is saying. Please stop these unnecessary comments and let the government know that all is not well. If the Ghana cedi has depreciated 68% since January 2022 and your salary has not been increased by that margin, then there’s a cause for concern. Some of us are feeling the heat working as expatriates and being paid in Ghana cedis. Let’s stop this politics and be truthful to ourselves.
Oh bra kwesi, there is something called internet to cross check everything this days ok. We no be illiterate ok. Your lies will expose you always.
UD$1=LBP1,507 while US$1=GHS10. So how can Pratt lie through his chisel teeth like this?
