Former NPP Member of Parliament(MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah says those calling for a reshuffle should cut the President some slack.
To him, the President knows what he is doing and doesn't need this pressure to reshuffle his Ministers.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Collins Owusu Amankwah argued that it is at the President's discretion to change his Ministers or not, therefore those making such calls shouldn't make it feel its mandatory.
"Let me put on record that it's not constitutional injunction that the President should do a reshuffle whether he likes it or not. It's not in any law in Ghana. It is rather an advice from some people that Mr. President, from where we sit, we suggest you changing some appointees will help . . . Nobody can begrudge him."
Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), a grassroot wing of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), says the President should reshuffle his appointees as they argue that some of the appointees are dormant in the discharge of their duties.
The group adds that the reshuffle will ensure the appointees execute their duties effectively.
Also, the outgoing Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen says the President’s posture will make things difficult for the NPP to ‘Break the 8’.
In an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie", Nana Obiri Boahene said; "Politically, we cannot brush aside the role of the foot soldiers. They are very instrumental in the party’s victory. Let’s listen to them. We want power."
But the former MP is of a strong belief that President Akufo-Addo is "focused", thus needs Ghanaians to cooperate with him.
"I still believe Ghana is in competent hands," he emphasized.

After begging to be president and the Ghanaian people dicided to trust you for your words, see where you have landed the country, this is the first time i have seen people praying that a president terms comes to end quickly so that he goes and live them in peace, people wished that this year was 2024 for the man to just go away. Nobody is happy in Ghana today apart from the political appointees. The fact that you see chiefs from the ruling party's stronghold holding press conferences to speak about their frustrations with the very government they massively voted for to win power speaks a lot. Currently if you enter a shop to buy certain category of goods in Ghana, the shop owner takes his or her phone to call his or her supplies before telling you the price of the goods, under this current government, did Ghanaians go or did they come. Abaaa, 1 dollar = GHC 9.85 and still counting? So where is the so called " solid economic management team ". 1981 was the last time Ghanaians witnessed real economic mess in under the Scottish man, we are seeing it's twin brother in 2022, what a mess. If Ghana were a company the owners would have closed the company down and raise their hands up by giving up. A blessed nation like Ghana has become a laughing stock among it's peers in the sub region, even a military led Burkina Faso is far better, currently long vehicle / bus drivers in the northern parts prefer to buy fuel in Burkina Faso because theirs is cheaper under same Covid 19 and Russia vrs Ukraine oooooo, meanwhile Ghana claims to produce crude oil in commercial quantities, Burkina Faso don't produce 1 barrel of crude. So the arable lands, cocoa, gold, timber, manganese, bauxite, crude oil, the harbours, have become a curse rather than a blessing to the Ghanaian people because of mismanagement and daylight theivery by a group that represents nobody but themselves. God save us
Please nobody is saying a reshuffle is mandatory. The president did not elect himself much less his ministers. It is the Ghanaian people who gave him the mandate to ensure that they live meaningful lives. If the very people who voted him into power are saying that their expectations are not being met, it will be wrong for the president to say he's satisfied with their performance. Under normal circumstances he together with his appointees are servants of the people, indeed the Ghanaian people are the kingmakers, the president cannot claim to know more than any other person. The people can also see for themselves what's happening, if you fail to heed to their call, the only option left to them is to throw the government out, it's that simple. When John Mahama said Akuffo Addo was begging Ghanaians for them to make him president, Akuffo Addo responded by saying he will continue to beg because power resides in the people, and the people made him president, today the same people are begging you to reshuffle your team and you say you won't listen? He behaving like a child who's father buys him a cake and turns round to tell the child to cut some of the cake for him, the child says no, forgetting that if the father wanted he could have eaten the whole cake before arriving at home. If he likes he shouldn't reshuffle, the people will use the hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm on a certain day to do a 100% reshuffle. Same minister's for Trade, Interior, Defence, Foreign affairs, Agriculture, Roads, National security, Transport, Health for close to 6 years running and you don't see anything wrong with that? So president Kufour was wrong when he moved Akuffo Addo from the Justice ministry to Foreign Affairs, no wonder kufour stands tall among all presidents of the fourth republic, because he had a listening ear no wonder @ 84 he's still commands a lot of respect both nationally and internationally.
