Yaw Buaben Asamoah, National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Adenta MP, has asked government to put in strict measures to help in economic recovery.
The Former MP's comment comes on the back of tweets from Gabby Otchere-Darko, a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Am I against an IMF programme in principle? No. I am not for an IMF programme that throws peanuts at us but imposes conditions that will end up hurting the poor, jobs and businesses more" Mr. Otchere-Darko said in a tweet on Monday.
"Ghana is a member of the IMF. The world is in serious crisis. Ours is not helped by our high debt and low-income levels. With the economy still growing, but investor confidence low, govt being compelled to cut down capital expenditures will eventually lead to job losses unless..." he added.
His tweets, according to some political pundits, are just trying to test the waters.
Some have raised issues with going to IMF because of their conditionalities which include cutting waste in the system.
Buaben Asamoah in a discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' said: "...what we don't want is to go for their programme; that will bring some conditionalities...if IMF will cut waste in the system why don't we do it ourselves? he questioned.

You guys just don’t care. How much have you spent on those flight charters when we have a jet sitting on the tarmac? You are just disgraceful and dishonest. Keep fleecing the people. Judgement would be served one day. For all the people who struggled whilst you wasted, looked on for others to loot and amassed the country's wealth, you shall surely pay. You said you have the men... Someone has been away for over a year attending to personal issues and you still hold that position open. Is she the only one who can do the job? Utter disgrace!!
THANK YOU DNALAD...WELL SAID THIS GOVERNMENT INDEED IS THE MOST ***barred word*** AND INCOMPETENT EVER IN THE HISTORY OF GHANA ,AFRICA AND THE WHOLE WORLD... ...GOD SAVE GHANA
Hahahaaaa, indeed the birds have come home to roost. It's not easy to swallow a bitter peel yourself, someone must push it down your throat. Wastage is when majority of the very people who elected you as president and MP's are suffering and you have money to subsidize V8's for MP's. Wastage is when the future leaders of this country at at home because school feeding caterers are on strike because of GHC 3.00 and yet we see a nonsensical cathedral as more of a priority than basic education.Wastage is when you are struggling to pay road contractors for jobs executed but go ahead to suspend payment of road tolls. Wastage is when people pay taxes in advance through VAT ie health insurance levy, Getfund levy etc and yet the money can't be transferred to these institutions to finance their projects and programs. Wastage is when MP's don't know their salaries until their term ends and because they know they stand to benefit none of them is complaining. Wastage is when you have a president who thinks he knows all and will not listen to anybody only to find himself stuck in the mud, his nephews now see nothing wrong with going to IMF, the very people who mocked others for going to the same IMF, may be the NPP IMF is not the same as the NDC IMF, wastage is when you have no money but go to buy so many things on credit. If road contractors were to come out with the figure government owes them, you will faint, now common disilting, GHC 10,000.00 , Amoako atta can't pay. Ghana's current standing is too pathetic, 'Ghana a ye mobo Dudu'. The whole vehicle is inside the ditch, no space to stand and pull it out. Am sad akuffo Addo will enter the records as the worse president in Ghana's history. Even Busia and Limann who didn't complete their terms have outperformed this government. Infact this government is a complete disaster. it calls for national mourning. Our hopes have been dashed.
