The former president John Mahama has said that Ghanaians are now learning from their mistake after voting him out in the 2016 elections.
In an interview with Samson Kasumba on Uganda-based NBS Television, Mahama said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo swayed Ghanaians with his “sweet talk” prior to the 2016 elections.
“When someone new comes along and sways the people with sweet talk, and you are voted out, you let them learn. And Ghanaians today are learning.
“If you ask Ghanaians today to assess my four years as President, they will tell you there was a lot of transformation in the country, especially in the field of infrastructure,” Mahama said.
“It’s been around six years so far. The country is in crisis. We are running into debt. The government has borrowed in excess of GHC270 billion, and there is nothing to show for it,” the former president said.
Touching on last year’s (20 December 2021) scuffle in Parliament, Mahama questioned the delay in investigating who ordered the soldiers into Parliament.
“The incident in the Ghanaian Parliament on 7 January 2021, was unprecedented, and up to now, there has been no investigation into who gave the order for the military to come in,” he said.

You rather lied to Ghanaians that you did infrastructure but the reality is that Kuffour and Mills started most of those infrastructure you came to finish some. The once you started, you didn’t finish and also left no money for it. Nana Addo has within this short time started and finish more infrastructure than you at far lower cost so how can Ghanaians miss you?
What about your mistakes? Are you also learning from your mistakes?
Loose talk is so cheap!
You will come and mess up the economy again and put the blame on your predecessors. You failed Ghanaians after been in power for over 5 years, what can you do for 4 years? Currently you are condemning everything about the economy, how are you going to fix this within 4 years. Ghanaians should think about this and know that Mahama wants to come back recoup whatever he's lost since in opposition.
The opposite is also very true. So far, the performance of the NPP administration has made Ghanaians aware of how the NDC administrations have failed them all this while. On the whole, the NDC as a political party in Ghana has had more chances to constitute an administration more than any other political party in Ghana. Therefore, Ghanaians have to blame the NDC more for the hardship they are experiencing today. This is the sober truth that the former president, Mr. Mahama, is delibrately hiding from the good people of Uganda.
Who and where are the people who have learned their lesson after voting you out? I am one of the Ghanaians who voted you out and have no regrets whatsoever for doing so. If you think the many demands Ghanaians are making is a sign of losing hope then you are wrong. They believe in Nana Addo and know he is capable of meeting their needs.
Keep on dreaming Mr. ***barred word***! You think we want another 4 years of Dumsor. NPP is fixing your mess and it takes time.
