Like the struggle for independence which did not come on a silver platter, President Akufo-Addo says so shall Ghana’s quest for development and prosperity.
Even though much is being done to transform the economy, he thinks a little patience and willpower will do.
Speaking at the 2022 edition of the “President’s Independence Day Awards” in Accra earlier today, he, appealed to the conscience of Ghanaians to do everything possible to eschew divisiveness and selfishness as they go about their daily duties.
“We must have the patience to accept that just as our fight for freedom and independence was not achieved in a day, so too national prosperity will not come overnight”, was how he put it.
As the country prepares to celebrate 65 years of independence from British colonial rule come March 6, 2022, under the theme; “Working Together Bouncing Back Better”, he charged his fellow country men and women to as it were eschew all acts of divisiveness and self-centeredness tendencies which will only retire our forward match.”
Instead, he said, “We must have the pride to acknowledge that we have made positive strides and we must also have the humility to appreciate that we still have some way to go.”

This man is seriously sick. Weren't you the same man who said you were going to transform Ghana to be like South Korea in two years? This ***barred word*** must not be coming from you, Mr Akufu Addo. Your lies have caught up with you. You are the worse president of this country. In fact, if I had the mean, your name would be scrapped the list of presidents. Corrupt old ***barred word*** without shame.
Abaaa, Akuffo Addo. Any man of age 65 years who haven't made it in life is not likely to make any positive impact again. See, 65 years after independence we can't dualize the road linking our 2 major cities, i.e. Accra to Kumasi, we have 9 out of the the 16 regions using a single lane road to get to Accra, i.e. Upper west, upper east, northern, north east, Savannah, Bono, Bono east, Ahafo and Ashanti . All these regions convege in Kumasi using a single lane road to reach Accra. 65 years, an independent country can't guarantee 24/7 water supply through our taps in the capital, 65 years you still have schools under trees, 65 years over 15 % or more of your people are food insecure, 65 years, if you are not a politician with your party in power forget a good life, 65 years majority of your farmers still depend on hoe and cutlasses, infact some farmers in Ghana have never seen a combined harvester. 65 years, rural communities are still competing with domestic animals for drinking water in dugouts, rivers and dams, 65 years some regions don't know what irrigation farming is like so people idle for 5 months waiting for rain to go back to farm. 65 yearsclose to 50 % of our roads are death traps. 65 years we can't link all our regional capitals by tarred roads, 65 years you can't mention one single policy that have stood the test of time, not one. And yet we are being told 65 years is still over night when the retirement age in Ghana is 60 years. Hahahaaaa. A foot ball match is 90 minutes, 87 minutes into the game with you are down by 3 goals to nil and yet the players are telling the supporters of the losing side that anything can happen in 5 minutes . You have 8 years to govern, 5 years with nothing to show we are still being told the remaining 3 years, hmmmm. Maybe Ghana is the only country waiting for a miracle to make progress
