Seasoned journalist, Kweku Baako has disclosed that some Headmasters of Senior High Schools in the country failed to register their students for this year's West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
Over 300,000 final year SHS students began their WASSCE on Monday, July 20, 2020.
The final year students named ''Akufo-Addo graduates'' are the first batch of students to have benefited from President Nana Akufo-Addo's free SHS programme.
The President wished them best of luck prior to the exams.
Kweku Baako, speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' on Wednesday, July, 22, has dropped a shocking surprise on some school Heads revealing that some students have missed the WASSCE because their headmasters and mistresses didn't register them although they qualified to write the final exams.
"There's one particular school where about 607 candidates were not registered. There's another one, 281 were not registered. In fact, the figures is building up to about 10000 in all...It's a serious matter. They have collected the students' money. Their signed list given to the GES is available, their names are there. They (school Heads) have received all the free SHS logistics. They receive the money and logistics in the name of these students on their signed list but yet they've not registered them," he bemoaned the action of the school Heads.
He however refused to mention names of the schools but stressed the appropriate authorities are handling the issue and the names of the Heads will soon be made public with sanctions accompanying the names.
"I want the authorities to do a full disclosure. And I'm sure, what I'm told, the full list will be published, the names will be published; that is the Heads and indeed possibly they will be surcharged for what they've done."

This phenomenon is not new almost every year it re-occurs particularly for remedial students and there is no one to speak out for them. Kwaku Baako be the voice for the voiceless.
What sort of wicked lies is that, Mr Baako. Stop this. You of all people shouldn't be doing this. Do you really believe heads of such schools would've been alive by now, considering the kind of vindictive education minister and government that we have? Come on, don't drag your good self into this. This government simply have lied about the figures and that is it. They are lying about everything and that is what they are good at, finito.
KWAKU BAAKO SHOULD STOP LYING. IS IT NOT THE SAME GOVERNMENT THAT SAID IT HAD ABSORBED THE WASSCE FEES OF ALL CANDIDATES? SO WHAT IS KWAKU BAAKO SAYING THAT, HEAD TEACHERS COLLECTED THE MONIES AND DIDN'T REGISTER THE STUDENTS??? WHERE FROM THIS LIE? HE SHOULD RELEASE THE LISTS OF THE SCHOOL AND LET THE PUBLIC KNOW AND JUDGE. ALL THAT KWAKU IS SAYING ARE LIES, IF A HEADMASTER HADN'T REGISTERED STUDENTS, WOULD THE HEADMASTER BE IN OFFICE BY NOW??
