Pollster Ben Ephson says if the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) were able to save 65 MPs from being contested, they could have done same to prevent the high attrition rate in the recently held primaries.
About 36 incumbent MPs were defeated in the primaries held on Saturday.
A total of 374 aspirants contested in 168 constituencies. Of the number, 325 are men and 51 women. 67 of the aspirants were unopposed and were acclaimed by delegates of the party in the various constituencies.
Majority leader and Member of Parliament for Suame constituency, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has bemoaned the number of incumbent MPs who were not able to hold on to their seats.
According to him, it reduces the quality of work delivery in the House.
Ben Ephson speaking in an interview on Neat FM, said the NPP "should have protected the MPs if they cared about them."

These is no point in your submission. These MP's cannot be in Parliament for ever. The young must take over the ruins of government in Ghana. They old PM'S must go for the news guys to come. The new guys will gradually learn Parliamentary procedures.
The beginning and the ending of the ruling NPP administration come 2020 December elections. The non performance on the side of the ruling government led to the defeat of some key memebrs of Parliament MPs) during the just ended party primaries. I hope the NPP presidential candidate President Akufo-Addo is reading critically into the boosting out of some of the key members of Parliament. One of the root causes of the sacking of Incumbent MPs is anger and disappointment from the delegates. And if the Akufo Addos NPP party dont learn from these primaries, it will reflect aganist the NPP as a party come 2020 december elections. Ghanaians are much disappointed, lost confidence in the NPP goverment and its economic policies, hardships and sufferings on the faces of ghanaians. Ghanaians are scared with the rapit rocketting of the spread of the COVID 19 and the porous and weak health structures in the rural and urban areas. Many ghanaians out of anger and frustrations will vote come december elections 2020 against the NPP government. It will be difficult for the presidential candidate of the NPP to have an easy way. No way, that is the saying of the ghanaians on the streets of Accra, Cape Coast, Takoradi Tamale, Bolga. Governments performance is the negative record to the defeat of some key members of Parliament. And this will likely reflect come 2020 december elections.
THERE ARE TWO PRINCIPAL KINDS OF DEMOCRACY: FREE DEMOCRACY AND CONTROLLED DEMOCRACY. TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF THE TWO ARE CHINA S CONTROLLED DEMOCRACY AND USA AS FREE DEMOCRACY. ONE KEY ELEMENT OF FREE DEMOCRACY IS OPENNESS TO COMPETITION. THIS RENDERS FREE DEMOCRACY TO BE MORE DYNAMIC THAN CONTROLLED DEMOCRACY. IT IS MORE OF HUMAN NATURE TO ENGAGE AND STRIVE BETTER IN A HEALTHY COMPETITION. AS NPP SEEK TO PROMOTE MORE OF FREE DEMOCRACY THE PARTY BECOMES VERY VIBRANT AND MORE DYNAMIC. THE PRINCIPLE OF NPP TO OFFER A LEVEL GROUND FOR ALL THE COMPETETORS MAKES THE PARTY VIBRANT AT THE GRASSROOT. OVER PROTECTION OF SOME PERSONS CAUSES DISSATISFACTION TO AFFECT THE ENTHUSIASM OF THE PARTY AT THE BASE.
Wisdom and Experience in parliament are not measured by the number of terms one may serve at the august house. What we refuse to accept is that no one gets to that position of a parliamentarian without being voted for and it is the same delegates they rejected that had to decide for them. Once a parliamentarian is not forever a parliamentarian so those who get the chance must not lord it over those who voted for them. It is an insult for a member of parliament who forgot his roots to go back with goodies just for the sake of re-election, it served them better no one must cry for them.
Democracy is about the survival of the fittest. if you are not strong, you would simply go down. there is no protection in democracy. you could see your opponents to step aside but nothing you can do again.
You are so evil and ***barred word*** man,I never knew you are so senseless, where is democracy do we protect someone and in which way di you want it to be done,***barred word*** man and evil plans,is simple you want to create divisions in the party, senseless man if you are wise enough to advise, go and advice you JDM to step down because his behavior will make his party be in opposition for years....Senseless man
