NPP Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Hon Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin has stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is holding hostage its own political fortunes with the entrenched stance to fight the new voter’s register.
According to him, if the largest opposition NDC does not rescind its decision to fight the compilation of the new voters' register, it's members may not partake in the registration with the belief that their leadership has boycotted the exercise.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Hon. Afenyo-Markin wondered why the NDC is still pushing their agenda to fight the compilation of a new voters' register when there is no victory in sight.
“I don’t know who is advising the NDC, but this is a game where if you push an agenda and it fails, you have to abandon it and move on. The NDC have experienced people, they know the game and so I am surprised about the way they are going . . . if they are not careful, their party members may not go and register, thinking that the party has boycotted the registration," he cautioned.
He stressed that the opposition party is creating an impression for their party members that the entire NDC is not for the compilation of a new voters' register; advising them not to cry if they get 25 percent in the 2020 general election.
“If they get 25 percent in the general election they should not cry . . ." he cautioned.
He described as a defeatist mentality, comments by former President John Dramani Mahama that the NDC will not accept the results of a flawed election; pointing out that this is a clear testament of political malaise in the opposition party.
Flawed elections
Former President John Dramani Mahama, about a week ago, issued a stern warning to the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of this year’s general elections.
According to the former President and flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party will not accept the 2020 election results should they suspect any underhand dealings by the EC.
“As leader of the NDC, I wish to serve notice that we shall do all our parts to ensure that our country remains peaceful and that the electoral process proceeds smoothly, but let nobody assume that we will accept the results of a flawed elections,” he cautioned.
Mr. John Mahama made this comment at a ceremony on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 to mark the 28th anniversary of the National Democratic Congress.

Look at this ***barred word*** ***barred word***. Have you stopped sleeping with that married woman you claim you're doing side business with? What about the national service personnel at the parliament house. You think we don't know what people like you are doing in secrecy? We the NDC shall expose all of you before the December polls. Hypocrites!
This guy is so puffed up that he thinks he's out of the woods. This is where the great fall begins. Comments like this should rather strengthen the NDC fraternity and toughen them to fight for victory. The NPP knows it has lost the battle already - has adopted a psychological warfare against the NDC. Very soon the truth will triumph. Only time will tell.
The NDC has two major problems. The first one is about their flagebearer, Mahama has discredited himself with so many corruption scandals and his credibility is as stake. Their second problem is about the old voters card. The NDC always win elections with foreigners. So excluding the current voters card from the new registration will be a big blow to them. I can tell you for a fact, in Bole we have thousands of Zamenames trading there and they all take part in our national election as Ghanaians. They were unable to come closer when we were doing the Ghana card. Which means their names are going to be eliminated from the new register. In all the NDC know they are going to loose this elections so they have to look for excuses to cover their defeat.
Beware the ides of March!!! Pride always comes before a fall!!!
