The Akufo-Addo government’s performance so far is 14 per cent and not 78 per cent as claimed by Vice -President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a few months ago, the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said.
Dissecting the Akufo-Addo government’s manifesto promises as against its achievements on Monday, 15 June 2020, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said three ministries of the government (Youth and Sports; Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; as well as Local Government and Rural Development) scored zero.
Cumulatively, he said the government has only achieved 14 per cent of its promises with five months to the 7 December 2020 general elections, thus, scoring an F, which he even described as “generous”.
According to Mr Ablakwa, President Akufo-Addo’s government’s claim that it has achieved 78 per cent of its promises is false, adding that “no wonder the hashtag #KickNanaOut has been trending on social media.”
On 11 February 2020, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia declared that the Akufo-Addo government had achieved 78 per cent of its manifesto promises when he addressed participants at a Government Townhall Meeting and Results Fair in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
Taking the audience through the challenges the nation faced when the Akufo-Addo administration took office, including declining economic growth, high inflation rate, high interest rates, high fiscal deficit, a weak and collapsing financial system, high unemployment, a health insurance scheme on the verge of collapse, four years of dumsor with its costs, and many parents unable to afford school fees for their children, Dr Bawumia said the NPP government had faced the challenges head-on and had delivered 78% of its manifesto promises.
“Notwithstanding the difficult economy we inherited, we had to get on with it and start to fix the problems. We were cognisant of our many promises. In fact, at the direction of President Akufo-Addo, we put together a dashboard of manifesto promises immediately after we were declared winners of the 2016 election, and before we were sworn into office. We have been using this dashboard to track our manifesto promises since”, the Vice-President said at the time.
“The challenge was huge. How could an economy that could not pay even teacher and nursing training allowances, suddenly deliver lower taxes, restore teacher and nursing training allowances, create jobs, implement free senior high school education, NABCo, Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village-One Dam, One Constituency-One Ambulance, reduce electricity prices, formalise the economy, industrialising the economy, reducing the cost of doing business, etc., while at the same time reducing the budget deficit and the rate of borrowing? It seemed an impossible task and our opponents were emphatic that we could not fulfill our promises. But we were very confident that with good economic management and by the grace of God, we could make what seemed impossible possible.
“The data and the evidence are clear that we have largely met our manifesto promises. We have delivered and are delivering on over 300 of our promises, and we are on course to do even more,” he declared.
NDC MOST SUCCESSFUL PARTY
While describing the National Democratic Congress as the most successful party in the history of Ghana’s politics, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu intimated that the party is ready to sustain its record.
He maintained that the NDC has the best election record of any political party in the country and will once again show their prowess come December 7.
With barely 5 months left for the elections to be held, the party is yet to announce its running mate which has earned them criticism from certain quarters, but Okudzeto insists the party is poised to regain power in December.
“NDC remains the most successful party in the fourth republic. We have won four of the elections held. And we’re poised to win our fifth”.
It will be recalled that the NPP defeated the NDC in the 2016 elections with a 53.7% total votes cast.

Ablakwa, you forgot one statistic. NDC is the first party in power to lose by almost 1 million votes. That is what should be informing your strategy, not the fact that you have won 4 elections.
A typical poor student trying to find a classmate. He then looks on a learned student’s work and marks him poor. He wants a classmate. Hahahaha. That Green book they wrote, was it to list achievements? If it was, what was an artistic impression (Atuabo port) doing in that book? With NDC, artistic impressions achievements oooooo.
Why didn't ndc give him zero nkwasi*afuo ,agoro w) moani so dodo ! Moagy*mi na momp3 ano aduro ! Such comedians want power over the dead bodies of Ghanaians so is this going to win ndc elections? Your primitive attitude in display is a disgrace to Ghana ! The civilized world have given him high marks and African countries love him for his wisdom and your display of lack of knowledge to the world is worrying! Do you consider your actions go a long way and that create disaffection for you? Did you see African Americans in America attacking Sammy Gyamfi for his fo0*0lish "I Can't Breath" cartoon? Continue with your stu*pidity to the world and the world will always look down on you when you are in power! Agyim*ifuo party ! Ndc lack intellectual capability !4more4Nana ! 4 more 2do more! Agyi*mifuo pack somewhere!
as for ndc, stop this propaganda and tell us what you will do. Your flagbearer is confused, first he said no allowance for trainee nurses and teachers. Now JM says he will continue with the status quo. NDC IS A CONFUSED PARTY. At least you scored them 14%. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA We the voters score you( -1% ). Yes, negative 1.
Waist of time and energy. Instead of using this period to highlight the promises of NDC in this year election you are just wasting time to discuss about an opponent manifesto in 2016 This is very shameful.
ALWAYS DOING PROPAGANDA, CAN'T YOU SUPPORT YOUR ARGUMENTS WITH FACTS AND FIGURES?
At least the NDC is able to see that the NPP is doing something with the loans they collected. It is not like collecting the loans to draw pictures in the green book to deceive Ghanaians that they have done Tema roundabout interchange and connot be seen. All the hospitals they use to talk about were initiated by Pres. Kuffour, both the loans and the contracts. Prof. Mills found them to be good and beneficial to the good people of Ghana so he decided to continue. But Mahama and his people finished the money without completing the projects. Yet they claim they did it. There is no truth in Ghana like Mahama and his people should be in jail by now.
For now what we are seeing is 78% bam.
What is trending now is hashtag 4more 4Nana that is the current trending on the social media, Papa Ablakwa wai. Shine your eyes and you will see properly.
GHANA POLITICS, HAHAHAHAH. NDC IS FUNNY OOOO, I CANT WAIT FOR THE DAY BAWUMIA WILL SPEAK, THEY WILL ALL COLLAPSE.
