"I cannot imagine that the surcharge and disallowance were not based on documentation, and so the documentation should be immediately available; unless a ghost has hijacked the document . . . " wondered Abdul Malik Kweku Baako.
The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper was reacting to a ruling by the Financial and Economic High Court on a case between the Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo and Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, wherein the former was found to be in contempt of court over his failure to respond in time to an appeal by the Senior Minister.
The Auditor-General was supposed to respond to a petition against a surcharge asking Osafo-Maafo to pay back to the state some 1 million dollars paid to Kroll and Associates for its audit services rendered to the state.
Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe in its ruling indicated that the reasons Mr. Domelovo has given that he was finishing a report for parliament, to be laid in June 2020 and that his Secretary placed the Court documents on his desk but he saw it a month after for which reason he was unable to respond appropriately, is untenable.
But the seasoned Journalist believes finishing a report for parliament is not an excuse enough because Mr Domelevo is not running a one-man-show.
Mr Baako who holds the Auditor-General in high esteem because of his diligence, admitted that 'this particular case takes away some credit' from the A-G's diligence.
"I believe he should still be given the support; I think he’s good a man of conviction . . . I will continue to give him critical support; not absolute support . . . this particular case takes away some credit. I’ve heard people saying he was busy auditing documents for parliament, how is that excusable? Is it a one-man show or it’s an office? There’s a structure . . . you have to be sufficiently prepared. Where are the documents; you can’t tell me they have been eaten up by rats or sold to the kelewele seller," he said on 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Peace FM.

That guy tot he's still working form Mahama. He’s brought back to his level by this contempt ruling. Next time! Nanaiama!!
Did the Auditor General go to the field to do the audit himself? Were there no working papers from the audit? Was the field work not reviewed? Mr. Auditor General you are occupying a very sensitive position in the country but with such an approach, I am afraid your professional competence is being put on the table for discussion. You carried out an audit at the GETFUND and you came out with a report and shared it publicly now questions are coming out of the audit. Whenever you are asked a question, you refer to GETFUND meanwhile GETFUNF has not shared any report publicly. If the clothes you are wearing are too tight and making you feel uncomfortable, you kindly change them. One tree cannot be a forest.
I just can't understand how the A.G could make such a ***barred word*** mistake, surcharging the senior Minister Osafo-Mensah to refund an amount of 1 million $ when he had no documentation to support his claims. By this act, putting the credibility of the senior Minister at stake is unwholesome if not diabolic and vicious political witch-hunting. Even though his position as A.G is supposed to be neutral of party politics, yet he used his position in public office to pursue his political interest despite overwhelming odds. This goes on to buttress my notion that, once a member of the NDC always a member, against all the odds in the strictest sense of it. Asem S€ B€!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH DOMELEVO, WHAT ABOUT HIS DEPUTY? GOOD FOR NOTHING PEOPLE DISTURBING OUR NATION, ALSO NATION WRECKER. GOD SAVE OUR MOTHER GHANA IF WE HAVE SUCH CHARACTERS LEADING US.
