The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted suggestions by the the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu that government has supplied the commission with personal protective equipment (PPE) in order for it to proceed with a compilation of a new voters register.
Haruna Iddrisu recently chastised the government for allegedly providing the PPE for staff of the EC instead of equipping frontline health and security workers to better aid them in the fight against the coronavirus disease.
In a statement issued by the EC on Monday, May 11 however, the commission says no such provision has been made by government and that the claim by the Minority Leader is untrue.

The statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Silvia Annoh consequently urged the public to disregard the earlier information put out by the Minority in Parliament.
The statement however said even though plans are far advanced for the compilation of a new voters register, the commission is sensitive to the current state of affairs due to the Covid-19 and would abide by the necessary precautions and safety protocols in the execution of its mandate.

All these politicians call themselves Honorable. Tweaaa
NDC should not just take and deem it easy dealing with an experienced and seasoned politician like our President Nana Akufo-Addo. The President was resolved to mobilize the local experts at his disposal to excel in the fight against the novel corona pandemic. In many of the Presidents' speeches, he had amply demonstrated the can-do spirit of Ghanaians both as patriots and experts and it's being acknowledged remarkably, in the fight against the novel convid-19 in the world, as Ghanaian positive approach. Thus, Ghana had recorded a very low death rate relative to the number of positive cases, massive testing, treatment, and recovery. The predictions of massive deaths in Africa seem to be very inaccurate, then the Ghanian example and its success is a case in point that disproves that. This clearly, shows how our President had provided the requisite solid leadership in the fight against the pandemic. And if at the end of the day it plays-out well for him in the campaign for his reelection so be it, then, it didn't just fall from heaven, he labored hard for it. It is not correct, therefore, for the Opposition leader Mahama to try hard, desperately, to deploy falsehood to counteract the solid competence of the President. It is not justified to try to discredit the President for any political gain. It is really a high time that the NDC realized that, baseless propaganda and polemics do not win you a free and fair democratic election.
