In an era where countries including Ghana have closed their borders many believe it is time for countries to take their destinies into their own hands.
And in Ghana, it is time for the 'Ghana beyond aid agenda'.
Mavis Ama Frimpong, a former Eastern Regional Minister in a discussion on UTV's 'Critical Issues' said in the spirit of taking charge of one's own destiny, the Komenda sugar factory should be opened.
Ms Frimpong does not understand why the ruling government has not yet made the factory operational.
However, host of the show Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady says the current state of the factory is the fault of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She believes 'NDC and NPP need to answer to Ghanaians'.

You are a monkey indeed, the factory is the work of non visionary leader. How can you open a factory without a raw material for the factory. Ekumfi pineapple factory raw materials were ready before production started.
@monkey you should be ashamed of yourself.
Kuffour built CR road if not for anything at all Accra cape coast road which was in a deplorable state. He again solved the perennial water shortage in cape coast. he built the ankafo prisons to give our fellow Ghanaians a decent place to live should you find yourself foul of the law. Mills also did well just as Akuffo Addo is also doing with roads, IDIF in ekumfi, and other places like the revival of the starch factory which collapsed after some years of operation. Yes, the Komenda sugar factory has been problematic right from the start. No one puts up a new sugar mill to produce only sugar. The mill should have had an alcohol producing unit attached. Individual farmers will end up killing the factory any day any time. The factory needs its own farm, and then an out-grower farm to support the main farm with agreed price per ton. This aside, just as I will question some of the !D!F projects I questioned the komenda sugar factory's initiation then, was it economically feasible or it was just done for votes. Until we solve this matrix playing the tribal card will not yield any good result, it will only backfire in your face.
Some of our so-called journalists or show hosts have chaff in their heads. Just blaming the two major parties has become fashionable so that is what they take refuge in. A bad project is a bad project so why blame NPP for a project they did not undertake? Journalists in Gh will sheepishly thread their chosen path of analysis even after they are furnished with the bare facts. Their arrogance is what makes their conduct even more irritating.
Owusu Bempa is one of the ***barred word*** guys in Ghana politics. You said the Komenda Sugar factory collapsed. Komenda Sugar factory collapsed because my fantes people do not think for the betterment of themselves and their family. If the factory was in Akyem by now Akufo Addo will import sugar guy from other countries to feed the factory-like what other Western Countries do by importing cocoa beans from Ghana to feed their factory okay. It is fantes people. If not them you Owusu Bempa will not speak like ***barred word*** referring to the Komenda Sugar factory. Since Akuffo Addo became President what development did the Central region get or Komenda, Edina, Eguafo Abrem get. The only Komenda sugar factory Mahama started Akuffo Addo has watched it and the Sugar factory is rotting all the sugar cane the farmers in the area cultivated, has been turned into alcohol production in Komenda, Kissi, and its environs and Owusu Bempa do not feel the shame of it. I blame my fantes people. I knew Asantes and other tribes will not do what my fantes people did. There is no factory in K.E.E.A but we got the Komenda sugar factory again and we fantes said we do not like it. I think this factory can be 1F1D but because it is in the central region and K.E.E.A, the Asante Akyem party said these ***barred word*** fantes people do not like anything better but the like likes. Go to Akyem and see their roads. Fantes people we should be tribalistic like the other tribe okay. We voted for Kuffour for two terms and he did nothing in fantes land, but we voted for Ata Mills and Mahama, the build sports stadium, Market, factory, Township roads, hospitals, etc okay. You Fantes have to know that Owusu Bempa is Asante and talks like an Asante. Because he is an Asante he does not care if the factory on fante land will collapse or operates. If this factory is in Asante Owusu Bempa will be the first person to confront Akuffo Addo that this sugar factory qualifies to be in 1D1F category. Fantes Fantes Fantes think before you vote because our votes can bring better development in our area.
Why are the people of Komenda quiet? Don't they need jobs. Or are they just tired of the whole hopelss situation of Gh?
How is the NDC accountable? Be serious
NO NEED TO ASK NPP,WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?---ASK MR.MAHAMA AND THE NDC BECAUSE HE HAS THE KEY TO THE COLLAPSE OF THE KOMENDA SUGAR FACTORY.MAY I KNOW IF HE HAS EXPLAIN TO GHANAIANS ABOUT THE AIRBUS DEAL.JM IS NOW OLDER THAN HIS AGE,JUST TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT ALL HIS PRESENT PICTURES AND APPEARANCES:SALUTE
