The Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of Power has suggested that the controversial PDS deal has not been cancelled.
A letter dated 18 October 2019 signed by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta indicated that the deal has been terminated.
According to the statement, “following consultations with Government, we wish to emphasize that Government remains strongly committed to the Compact and to private sector participation in the Electricity Company of Ghana.
“We also wish to reiterate the position communicated to the CEO of the MCC by the President of Ghana during their meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23rd to the effect that, the current concession had to be terminated in view of the facts uncovered regarding the failure by PDS to satisfy conditions precedent under the relevant transaction documents AND, however, that every effort would be employed to ensure a suitable replacement within the relevant timelines in order to complete the Compact.
However, in an interview on Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ the deputy Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre South constituency said: “it’s a letter of intent…you can’t just get up and cancel you need to consult all the stakeholders”

DOES THIS GOVERNMENT UNDER AKUFO ADDO HOLD CABINET MEETINGS AT ALL? OR IS IT THAT AKUFO ADDO IS NOT IN CONTROL OF AFFAIRS. AKUFO ADDO WRITES LETTER TO CHIEF JUSTICE TO REVIEW POLICIES GOVERNING LAW EDUCATION IN GHANA PERTAINING TO THE GHANA LAW SCHOOL, THE CHIEF JUSTICE IMMEDIATELY REPLIES HIM WE WOULDN'T DO IT. THE FOLLOWING DAY HE TELLS GHANAIANS THE PDS CONTRACT HAS BEEN TERMINATED, THEN A DEPUTY MINISTER OF ENERGY JUMPS INTO HIS STATE SPONSORED V8 RIDES TO THE STUDIOS TO TELL THE WHOLE WORLD AND GHANAIANS THAT AKUFO ADDO IS A LIAR, THERE IS RATHER AN INTENT TO CANCEL. WHEN WILL THAT INTENT TO CANCEL TAKE EFFECT. VERY SOON THEIR (NPP) GENERAL SECRETARY, JOHN BOADU WILL SIEZE THE MIC TO ADD HIS VERSION THEN THEIR KUMASI CHAIRMAN/PRESIDENT WILL FINALISE FOR THEM THEIR INTENDED DECISION. WHO IS IN CONTROL?
It is now clear that these NDC apologies either do not read at all or do read but do not understand what they read. They claim they lawyers. Let their so-called lawyer explain to them that "Intent to cancel" does not mean or is the same as "cancelled".
You guys should read the letter carefully before you pas negative comments. Somebody's comment as to the deal has been cancelled is not what the letter is purporting. "Intent to cancel" does not mean or is the same as "cancelled" You guys should read and understand
comedy of the century
Ewuradze nyankopon, these npp guys are confused from their president to barwumia to their cleaners. Today they have terminated, tomorrow they haven't cancelled yet. And people are saying we should commend the president, for his INCOMPETENCE?
Oh! Akuffo Addo, you are suffering ooo! Yesterday, I listened to radio and virtually everyone was praising the president for terminating this pds agreement. Today, a deputy minister is singing a different tune. What type of nun sense is this?

Hmmm: it appears the NPP govt has embarked on a dangerous journey of self-destruction: and will very soon fall on its own dagger. A Party that is hell bent on committing fraud on ghanaians. They will go down in history as the political party which engaged itself in the greatest financial scandal ever in the country amounting to over US$4 billion. Now Woyomi's Ghc51.4 million has become a drop in their ocean. They can go and change the colours of PDS thru restrictive tendering and bring it back- ghanaians will be waiting for them. This Party.
