Director of Human Resource at the Ministry of Health, Dr Akwasi Asabir has described nurses at the Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery Training College as “ungrateful” health practitioners.
His comment comes after videos and photos in which some students of the training college were seen chanting “JM we’re sorry”.
The students stormed the rally grounds at Nalerigu on Day two of former President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Thank You Tour’ of the Northeast region, clad in their school uniforms and NDC paraphernalia to “beg” the NDC flagbearer to come back to power.
The purpose of the tour was for John Mahama to interact with the Chiefs, opinion leaders, community members and executives of the NDC in the various constituencies.
But the students, numbering about a hundred stormed the rally grounds holding placards that read, “JM we're sorry, nurses’ need you back” and “Ghana Economy is in coma”, and knelt before the former president amidst wailing.
Dr Akwasi Asabir who was speaking on the issue on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that management of the school have rendered an apology to government for the ‘uncultured’ behavior of their students.
He said the school “do appreciate what government is doing for them” – and described the students act us “unfortunate”.

THEY CAN GO AND HANG THEMSELVES.
These are ndc people so it is ok for them to suffer if that is what they will get. how nurses were treated under mahama i cannot believe any nrmal perosn will compare to this governemnt but again this part of ntafoo will do anything to get thieir man even if they have to lose the little money they have
It is very sad public officials who should know better are selling their conscience to a ruling government. We are in a democratic era and nothing forbids grown ups from showing their political preference. I as a public official would never ever sell my conscience to any ruling party because of professionalism and integrity. The politicisation of the Ministries and the hijack of the work of Civil servants by politicians in the current dispentation has to stop.
listen to your self also, is the students loan coming from Mahama pockets.
The intolerance of npp leaders is appalling. They can't stand divergent views. How can the government expect everyone one to sing their praises. All Ghanaians have their political affiliations. I am not sure the sort of development mahama brought to the people of ashanti region made them vote for him. It's normal to choose who you love, it has nothing to do with being ungrateful. The allowances was not entirely scrapped by mahama. He only replaced it with students huge loans. Of course, they would have paid back the student loan after their education, but they still have the right to choose who they like. If you look at the head and monkey faced president we have, yet about 1million Ghanaians voted for him, why because they just wanted him to be president even though they new he was not fit for the job. They only tried him as he pleaded. That doesn't make them ungrateful to mahama.
ayi if the allowances are not coming from Nana's pocket why didn't your john mahama pay then? and you can also volunteer to pay for them. I agree with those who think that colege must be exemptied from the allowances. They should let mahama their kin's man pay for them. We are not going to tolerate any f00*00lishness in this country if you can't take us relocate most ndc members come from Togo and Burkina so you have your countries to relocate but authentic Ghanaians have nowhere except our country Ghana. Don't bring yourselves. If they don't want the allowance who cares the government should stop paying them that's all this is not a matter of whose pocket. Nana has been giving the authority by 54% Ghanaians to take care of our resources es and you in the ndc have no right whatsoever to ask whose pocket? did those monies you stole from Ghana from your resources? and how many ndc members even pay tax in Ghana? your strongholds are the least tax payers and they are the ones fighting off good things we just need to ign*ore them. That's all ! my president is too good a man for my liking he wouldn't do what I want him to do to cancel the allowance of those students who went to praise the odwanfun to come back and cancel the allowa and create unemployed nurses. Very ungrateful f00*00ls how can Ghana grow with idi*ots in abundance even educated are the most idi*ots imagine if they hadn't got any education they would have eaten toilet.
I AGREE WITH THE TRAINING NURSES BUT BLAME AKUFO ADO FOR LYING TO THEM. IN ANY CASE, AM SURE THEY THE TRAINEE ARE NOW BACK TO THEIR SENSES FOR THE GOOD WORK OF EX-PRESIDENT MAHAMA. AKUFO ADO WILL SURELY VOTED OUT COME 2020. UNDER HIM MENZGOLD COLLAPSE UNDER AKUFO ADO 409 MICRO AND BANKS ARE COLLAPSE. THEY SAID THEY ARE CLEANING AND ALL THIS WORKERS ARE HOME NOW UNDER MAHAMA THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE THIS. GHANAIAN HAS MADE THEIR MINDS ALREADY MOST OF THEM HAVE BEEN AFFECTED.
If some of them want JM back, that is OK. We are in a free country and everybody is free to choose. We are not under a dictatorship. This is not north Korea or China. I am sure not all trainee nurses will vote for Nana, and so what? Nobody should apologize to anybody. Each one to his own.
Yay or what ever you call your self, i think you are an Ingrid. It is people like you who has made Ghana stand still all these years. Your allowance was cancelled and now you get something but you are still complaining? I do not even have the words to describe people like you
@yay some takes away my GH c 870 a month, someone else give me half of it , who is better? @ayi; it wasn't JM's pocket money either when he revoked it
