The ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), it appears can now evaluate its political rival's sleep patterns.
Communications Director for the NPP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, is of the firm belief that former President John Dramani Mahama is experiencing 'sleepless nights'.
This is so, he says, because the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy was not rolled-out during his tenure.
His comment comes on the heels of comments by a high-ranking official of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the policy will definitely not ensure Akufo-Addo's continuous stay in office beyond his first term.
Spokesperson for the former, Joyce Bawa-Mogtari, is quoted to have said that the implementation of the free SHS policy by the NPP administration will not keep President Akufo-Addo in power, but that the President should rather concentrate on fulfilling his many promises.
She was reacting to remarks earlier made by President Akufo-Addo when he addressed staff and students of the Bolgatanga SHS.
" . . this policy has come to stay. I know that there are people in this country who don't want this policy, who have been campaigning against this policy and they are dreaming that they are going to come back to power to cancel the policy," Nana Addo said.
Buabeng Asamoah, who was contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' Wednesday, said: "he (Mahama) doesn’t have a message on free SHS . . . one thing worrying John Mahama, something which is giving him sleepless nights is the fact that he couldn’t implement free SHS policy under his tenure. Even E-blocks he couldn’t complete . . . and these are the people who want Ghanaians to vote for them again".

GHANAIANS WILL NOT MAKE SUCH A HUGE MISTAKE TO BRING BACK THE INCOMPETENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA AND HIS CLUELESS ADMINISTRATION TO POWER. WE HAVE LEARNED OUR GREAT LESSONS AND APPRECIATING THE OVERWHELMING POLICIES IMPLEMENTED BY THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION. REMEMBER THAT 'SECOND ***barred word*** IS A ***barred word***'
as it stands now, free shs and the issues surrounding it is more likely to cause NPP to lose votes than to win votes out of it. the double track system is cancelling almost all the benefits majority of parents were experiencing. my little research revealed that the only people who see free shs as something good is the parents who couldn't have sent their wards to school if the policy was not in place. another issue is how trs have been treated ever since the policy came. all the moneys that they were getting at the end of each term has almost been taking away from them. I know the issues I have raised are pregnant and needs people with fine mind to understand. there are credible and practical evidence to out there to ascertain the truth.
Wow! Apio has photographed this man paaaaaaaa ooo!
Free SHS, as if all Ghanaians are benefitting from it. Most parents have adults children who are working, most parents have children in private schools and are paying. There more parents whose children go to elementary schools and pay tuition fees. Most parents have children who are in the universities and they are paying huge sums of money for them. What benefits does the free SHS give to Ghanaians bachelors and spinsters who don't have children. How many Ghanaians even go to SHS at this time out of the 30 million population. The npp is making too much noise about the bogus free SHS non sense double track. Because of free SHS they don't even think the childless men and women are also Ghanaians who need roads, hospitals, water, electricity etc. Is free SHS all there is as achievement for the government? What is all these non sense? Do you guys thinks all Ghanaians are fuulls?
Aah it is seems the government has only done free SHS and it has done nothing more. Their answer to every question is free SHS.
That is what caused JM's downfall. They were always singing infrastructure and before they knew it they were out of power. You be there and be singing free SHS you will fine yourselves in opposition soon. Funny.
This is how you think when you drink 'apio' and akpeteshie. Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, for your information, JM built many Senior High Schools.NPP under Akuffo Addo built none. Everybody knows students go to school in Free SHS in classrooms, which school, classrooms did you build eversince you came to power.
