Former Deputy Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo has chastised the ruling government for borrowing so much to the extent that IMF had to come in with a piece of advice.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', he bemoaned the fact that even though the country's total debt is increasing, the ruling Akufo-Addo led government has nothing to show for it.
"Barely two and a half years you have borrowed 80 billion Ghana cedis; someone who was speaking against borrowing; now look at what you are doing. Where is the money and what are you using it for? No school, no hospital, no road . . . We don’t even know the real state of our deficit and we don’t understand why the government is hiding it. They don't even know their priority, but as to whether they listen or not is up to them," he indicated.
Background
The Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Ghana, Dr Albert Touna Mama, has advised the government to pay critical attention to issues that can send the country back to a bailout programme with the fund.
He mentioned the high risk of debt distress, weak domestic revenue mobilisation, off-budget transactions and a high level of fiscal risk from the energy sector as issues that could erode the gains in stabilising the economy.

This is why ndc will fail. Look at this Fred Agbenyo. Last week he claimed Ghanaians couldn’t buy plantain because it was expensive - knowing very well we're in the lean season for plantain. He totally abandoned his life experience from his hometown Akpafu which is a farming community (!) to give us this ***barred word*** argument. Today it’s national debt. What will it be next week, Fred?
It is as if members of the NDC were all baptized with lies. They are so much allergic to the truth you cannot fathom why. They use debt stock to represent borrowed funds at any opportunity. Their 1diocy is such that, when their notorious propaganda secretary tells them what to say in public, all of them, including the MPs and JM religiously repeat same, irrespective of how si11y it may sound. Now they go round claiming the president rented an aircraft and pays $70,000 per hour. Interestingly ALL of them, I mean ALL OF THEM including MPs are repeating same, though it clearly sounds very st*u*pid to even kindergarten kids. NDC is indeed FINISHED.
This tells me NDC as a party is sleeping. They should wake up and stop this dirty propaganda.
Fred Agbenyo your propaganda led you to the defeat and the victory of the most notorious guy in the history of Ghana who is leading ndc to another defeat. Go to your constituency and ask if the kids are paying school fees and do you think the government is using your teeth to pay for that cost? the debt you are talking about us being used to service the debt your us*eless party left behind. 2009 Papa Kuffuor eft a debt of ghc9 billion and the consolidated fund full of money what did you use that money for and what did you use the ghc122 billion loan you used Ghana's name to get ? you have no shame !
NDC doesn't listen to herself and does not read also. Mahama gave an answer to your question, Fred! NDC onaaaapo!
