The Home Land Study Group Foundation says despite the arrest of their leader and other key members of the group, they will go ahead to declare their independence.
The PRO of the group, George Nyakpo was emphatic that “We are not worried by their intimidations. They [Police] are not serious.”
To him, they are not part of Ghana and want an immediate separation from the republic before they take a drastic decision.
“Ghanaians should mind their business and we will think about ours. We are not part of Ghana. Ghanaians should not annoy us with their useless talks. We don’t need Ghanaians,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

Check well this group was around for a very long time. The group was around and was a source of worry to the NDC, they agitated under JA Kuffour too. Kufour Mills, Mahama engaged them, even NADAA engaged them at a point. Please let's stop spewing g/ab/bage. I don't think their approach is the best but let's stop telling lies. The group didn't just sprung up. Do your checks from BNI, CID etc and you'll wonder the sort of interactions and the behind the scene works that has been going on all the time.
In fact Ghana is a very funny country. Just look at the people in the picture who are asking for independence. They better stay calm and hide otherwise the rest of us Ghanaians will demostrate on the street to force the government to as a matter of urgency, grant their request. Gyimiiis3m aaakwa!
I think the government should do some development there. They feel left out, expecially their leaders house.
They find another piece of land outside to go and settle on. We are fed up with this tyrannical behaviour of some self-centred and egoistic mundane people who always think it is their right to issue threats to any government that does not have the traits of NDC.
This is not a matter that must be dealt lightly. From Morocco's Saharawee Arab Republican war for years that saw millions die, to the Senegalese Casamance separatist war for years that millions died, to the Nigerian Biafran separatists war of 4 years where over 2 million people died to Ethiopian Eritrean separatist war for years and the current reunification talks to Sudan's South Sudan separatist war which has not died down yet, over and over and over again. If there are any great minds from the Volta Region, the undoubted one of the 3 elite people to be civilised in Ghana (Elmina, Keta and Akuapem who had first interaction with the Missionaries) they should speak out and not allow evil to triumph. Lets not insult and bastardise these people otherwise the problem will never go away. Good people from the region must speak up now.
Volta Region indeed has genuine problems but this is not surely the way to go. There are better ways to resolve the challenges as part of Ghana than breaking away. migbordzidanyi
This insanee group can do all they can. Let me set the records straight here - history has it that the Ewe people are not from Ghana. In fact they are people noted for migrations due to wars and invasions in the 17th century. They are originally from the border between Nigeria and Benin and the land on the riverside of the Niger river. They first migrated to Notsie in Togo and then finally settled near the volta river in the Volta Region. They're noted for their warlike nature and invasions of other states and selling captives as slaves. The present volta land initially belonged to the Guans who were also subjects to the Ashantis. The Guans moved inwards into Ghana when the Ewes settled in the volta. They were initially colonised by the Danes who sold their sovereignty to the Germans and the latter sold it to the English in 1874. After the 2nd world war and during Ghana's independence, the British organised a referendum and drafted them into Ghana. They were to lose the land they currently occupy and go back to where they came from. SO I DON'T SEE WHY THESE BEGGERS OF EWES ARE ASKING FOR INDEPENDENCE. INDEPENDENCE MY FOOTTTT!!! WHY DON'T THEY GO BACK TO NIGERIA OR NOTSIE AND CLAIM INDEPENDENCE????NONESENSEEEEE - THEY SHOULD GO TO WIKIPEDIA AND READ!
Indeed Africa at large deserve not democratic rule. we are not yet ready.
Neat FM is a Ghanaian radio station phuul . . . if you think you are not part of us why use our media to spew you gyimisem . . .
I have no doubt that ndc ple are financiers of this group. Most of them whole stole when in power and now smelling prison are looking for ways out. I think Ghana will be better off without those ple tho and govt shd consider it. It will help take them out of our electoral process where even ghosts are made to wake up and vote. I hope govt is looking into this carefully.
