Vice President of Ghana and the head of the Economic Management Team, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has jabbed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for attempting to use a very popular phrase he coined years back against him.
The NDC had teased Dr Bawumia for failing to live up to expectation when it comes to managing the economy.
The criticisms got worst when the cedi started depreciating.
The NDC claimed the exchange rate had started exposing Dr Bawumia. "If the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you", throwing back the Veep's words at him; a statement he made when the NPP was in opposition.
Responding to the critics during the maiden Town Hall Meeting on the theme, ‘Our Progress, Our Status, Our Future,' Dr Bawumia said he still stands by his words and the fact that the cedi is depreciating, does not mean the fundamentals are weak.
"You will recall that I stated in 2014 that if the fundamentals are weak the exchange rate will expose you. That was true then and it is true now. It is 100% correct. So if the fundamentals are weak the exchange rate will expose. But is warped logic to jump from that to a conclusion that if there is depreciation in your currency then the fundamentals must be weak. It is a very warped logic. If the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you but if the exchange rate moves, you cannot jump to that conclusion that the fundamentals are weak. That defies logic. There could be other external factors causing the exchange rate depreciation.”
“For example, if I tell you that if your leg is broken, you are going to be unable to walk then I’m somewhere and somebody comes to tell me that this person is unable to walk. Can I conclude that the person’s leg must be broken? There can be other reasons why you cannot be able to walk. But the NDC logic will insist in the face of contrary evidence that since you cannot walk then it means your leg must be broken,” he insisted," the Vice President stated.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. I REMEMBER THE HEY DAYS OF JERRY JOHN RAWLINGS. ANYTIME JERRY MOUNTED THE PLATFORM TO SPEAK, EVERYONE WILL ABANDON WHATEVER THEY WERE DOING AND RUSH TO CATCH A GLIMPSE OF HIM (JERY RAWLINGS). JUST AFTER THE SPEECH ASK MOST OF THOSE WHO WENT TO THE SCENE WHAT JERRY RAWLINGS SAID. ALL THAT THESE PEOPLE CAN TELL YOU IS THAT, "EIII, GYAE, GYAE, GYAE! O KASAA Y3 PAAAA. THEN YOU ASK AGAIN "O KA DEN? THE ANSWER AGAIN IS :EIII, O KASA PAPAPAPA" THE SUBSTANCE IN WHAT HE (JERRY RAWLINGS) SAID WAS MEANINGLESS TO THE SPECTATORS. ALL THAT THE SPECTATORS WERE INTERESTED IN WAS RAWLINGS'S LOUD SHOUTS AND THE THOWING OF HIS HAND IN THE AIR. EITHER THERE WAS ANY SUBSTANCE INRAWLINGS'S SPEECH OR NOT "O KASA Y3, PAPAPAPA" THE SAME APPLIES TO MOST SPECTATORS OF BAWUMILIAR'S SPEECHES. EITHER SUBSTANCE DEY OR SUBSTANCE NO DEY, "O KASA Y3 PAPAPAPA"
CLUELESS BAWUMIA AND NPP!!"WE HAVE THE MEN"!! U THINK IT IS BIG NAMES THAT RUN ECONOMIES? IT IS BIG BRAINS!!
OMG, #bawmia is totally broken into pieces, look at his analogy, it is crazy,he totally ignore that the fundamentals are weak whiles they are really week, this guy is out of his gomschine, even though he tried to reduce import duties, that does not mean the fundamentals are strong. The NPP government is fundamentally weak and Ghanaians know that as well.
His Excellency Alhaji Bawumia you're " too much"...…. I Salute
BAWUMIA OH BAWUMIA , WHAT A SMART FELLOW
The NDC is never the better option so they better stop their propaganda and enjoy their booty. What alternatives have they proposed so far? All we hear is noise, noise and noise! Adongo's economics are colostronic as we all know...good for nothing but vile propaganda. Where was adongo when the NDC went to IMF for policy credibility? Please let us think ooo tom !
That is why it was important that we all took our LOGIC lessons in school seriously. Now, if you cannot walk, it is not necessarily true that your leg is broken. But if your legon is broken, you cannot indeed walk. Got if now, NDC?
This man will kill me.
