Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah has insisted that the state should stop taking care of ex-President John Dramani Mahama.
He argued that since Mr. Mahama is aspiring to become a president again, it is not proper for the state to foot his bills anymore.
The minister has therefore called for an open debate to determine if Mr. Mahama should be taken care of by the state or not.
According to Mr. Osei-Mensah, he is convinced that the state should not take care of someone who is aspiring to become a president.
“Mr. Mahama is now a presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that is the gospel truth. With his presidential ambition, I am convinced that the state should stop taking care of him as a former president,” he stressed.
The minister added: “If the state will continue to take care of him, then all other presidential aspirants should also be taken care of by the state”.
He was addressing hundreds of NPP members during the Ashanti Regional NPP Youth conference and inauguration of youth working committees.
Held in Kumasi last Saturday, it was graced by Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady, and Henry Nana Boakye, NPP National Youth Organizer.
Mr. Osei-Mensah, who was brimming with rage, said “Mr. Mahama has nothing to offer the country after failing to deliver as president”.
“Mahama only wants to come back as president so that he can steal from the coffers of the state again”, he pointed out.
He, therefore, charged the NPP youth to campaign vigorously so that ‘victory 2020’ for the NPP would be a done deal.

Why the debate must start from here! The logic is this: In a likely event formal president Mahama becomes president again he will be receiving salary as president and another as formal president. 2. After four years he goes home forever, so 1 He takes another salary as just outgoing president and another as a formal president. Is this reasonable in which part of the earth? The minister should contact me, l will organise a demonstration for him on this. This minister has a brain of a genius, helping to cut waste with task payers taxes. He should live long to save mother Ghana.
right taught Ghana b3 y3 d3 I support this move 100%
This man want us to insult him k3k3 ..you guys are the reason NPP will go back to opposition..All that you said is rubbish !..
@ evil ndc, pls, go and have some education wai. wua bon too much. tweeeeeaaaaaa.
There is no sense in what the minister is saying. the fact that he is a ex president means he should still enjoy everything all ex presidents enjoy. he is entitled to it. That is ***barred word*** politics the Minister is doing. Mahama must come back. NPP is a total failure to mother Ghana.
Seidu, you are cheap which country has a former president contesting to be president only Bole Bamboi will this come from, nkurasesem saa de3 3ne sen!If Bennington did it that doesn't mean Ghana can do it. Imagine an NPP former president was behaving that way do you think ndc will pay that person? and even no NPP former president will do that they are civil. Nobody understands what this man means and want from Ghana but we can't allow him to come back to l00ot and cause more damage! We are the people ,we are the majority and we will speak . I love this minister for his no non*sense stand in his region, he wouldn't allow anyone to take the law into his own hands in that region at the expense of the indigenous Ashantis!
This man is very cheap,is he saying Mahama isn't an ex president again?.You can hate him but you can't take anything from him.Still JM for 2020
That is the reason why no former president enjoying his emolument should contest for presidency again. If Mahama knew he will be contesting he should have refused whatever is paid to former presidents. Anyway Mahama will never be president again.
I don't think that aspiring for a presidential candidacy disqualifies him from being taken care of by the state. He still remains a former president nevertheless. And I don't think any part of the Constitution states that. He shouldn't be compared with other aspirants because they have never been presidents before. Besides, contesting doesn't mean that he has won. Does that mean that when he doesn't win then the state will start paying his bills again?
This man is empty, ***barred word*** just look at this empty face
