The spokesperson of former President John Dramani Mahama, James Agyenim Boateng, has asked the general public to disregard the falsehood peddled by the First Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo region, Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC, claiming the former President provided financial support to a Nigerian Presidential Candidate, PDP's Atiku Abubakar.
According to him, "what Abronye said is untrue, therefore must be disregarded".
In an interview on UTV's 'Dawuro' news, Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC, alleged that the former President sent money to a candidate in Nigeria’s Presidential Elections through Mr. Julius Debrah, his former Chief of Staff.
He said he has evidence that Mr. John Mahama donated an amount of $1.5million to the PDP flagbearer to help him in his campaign to oust President Muhammadu Buhari from power.
"He gave him $1.5million to aid the opposition leader in Nigeria . . . he also set up a committee to help Atiku Abubakar win the election in Nigeria," he alleged in an interview with Yaa Konamah.
He added that John Mahama delegated a group to help Atiku Abubakar campaign on his last campaign rally day.
He said that money could have been used to assist party faithful and the youth involved in Vigilantism here in Ghana, to get jobs.
He also challenged Atiku Abubakar to come out and deny ever receiving such an amount from the former President of Ghana.
But reacting to the issue on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he stated that the former President is an advocate of democratic consolidation and has principles that do not allow him to interfere in the elections of any country.
He added that Mr. Mahama has not interfered in the Nigerian elections in anyway and believes that any outcome of the Nigerian elections must be an expression of the free will of the Nigerian people.
“President Mahama has sent no money to any candidate in Nigeria, and Mr. Julius Debrah, his former Chief of Staff has not been anywhere near Nigeria as alleged in the story.
"It is unfortunate and I want to say emphatically that the story is untrue, therefore must be disregarded," he stressed.
The main challenger to President Muhammadu Buhari, 76, in Nigeria's election is the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, 72.
Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian politician, businessman, philanthropist and Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party at the 2019 Nigerian general election.
He served as the 11th vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo.
Abubakar declared his candidacy for the presidential nomination of the PDP mid 2018 and won the nomination at its convention on 7 October.
He defeated 11 other contestants and got 1,532 votes, 839 more than the runner-up, the Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal.

Concerning the story of the TUC calling on gov't to review the contract of MPS at the Tema Port. 2015 + 35 years means the contract is to run till 2050. So it is a joint venture project between GPHA and MPS-Bollore/APM. In this arrangement what is the stake of GoG/GPHA vis-a-vis MPS? 5%, 10%, 20%, 30% in this service industry and how does that impact the macroeconomy and fiscal stability and most importantly the issue of currency depreciation?
Rawlings REJECTED that he took money ($5m) from Abacha, only to accept many years down the line that he took $2m! that is NDC for you! Corruption is in their DNA!
JDM do not fall prey to the wasteee. Information reaching your door step after the party election should advise you on the paths to thread on. indeed, do not try to do anything with girls in film making and music. reveal yourself as a matureeeed citizen of purposeful life. Hey kwasi Nyantakyi is in search of you for the thiing but never mind him ok? he is poison to society now.
But your Kwaku Boahen also alleges that NPP sent money to Buhari. So it is one all.
Well Buhari has been reelected
NDC still thinks Ghanaians still have SHORT memories! NEVER! It is in their DREAMS! Rawlings denied taking money from fmr. Nigerian President Abacha, only to accept that he indeed took it after many years. NEVER thrust NDC, because they CORRUPT & LIARS!
Abronye should be very mindful of statement that he makes about H.E John Dramani Mahama because when power is no more can he still take like his doing now? Power really corrupt and i want Chairman General of peace Kokrokoo to note these statement due to precedences. NDC we just watching..
We should just disregard this serious allegation????? If there is no truth in it sue Abronye. To just say we should disregard this serious allegation presupposes that there is some truth in it. Sue him if its a lie or better still cause him to provide evidence.
