The Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has given a strong indication that former president John Mahama will soon announce his interest for flagbearer position for the NDC in the 2020 elections.
Over 5 aspirants have so far declared an interest in contesting, but John Mahama is yet to make plain his ambitions clear.
Speaking on NDC internal elections, Mr. Ablakwa admonished the various factions to embark on campaigns devoid of hate speech and violence.
He also predicted an overwhelming victory for President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming NDC presidential primaries.
“I have every confidence that former president John Mahama is going to win this primaries. I can predict very safely that former President Mahama is not going to win by anything less than 85%,” he said.
The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has told Citi News that six persons have so far confirmed their intentions to contest for the party’s presidential ticket.
The party in a press conference last Thursday, August 2, lifted the ban on campaigning for all party leadership positions.
“We have about six people who have written to us. I can confirm that Dr. Ekow Spio-Gabrah has written to us, Professor Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah was the first to write and Stephen Atubiga. A couple of the people who have written to but they don’t appear to be in frontline politics.”
94 NDC MPs endorse Mahama
Ahead of the party’s polls, 94 NDC Members of Parliament out of 106 have reportedly endorsed John Dramani Mahama to lead the party in the 2020 elections although the former President hasn’t formally thrown his hat into the race.
According to the leader of the 94 MPs, Edwin Nii Lantey Vandapuye, John Mahama is the only candidate who can lead the party to victory in the next polls.

I am so surprised that not one commentator read the article but started commenting, based on the newspaper headline! If all the commentators had read the article, they would have realise that Okudzeto was talking about the primaries of NDC, not national election. Let us read articles before we start commenting!
We are in a conforyable lead, John Mahama is in a confortable lead. End result, unprecidentented deafit. Wooooooow!
Please wake up Okudzeto for you are dreaming.
Kyei, tell me or show me where the President has shown incompetence or you people don't understand the word so use it anyhow? or you think mere saying incompetence means Ghanaians will bring ndc?or you thought NPP used the word incompetence to win the election? you are wrong, go and find the meaning of incompetence and compare it to the ndc governance before you people use that on this working government. Ghanaians voted ndc out because of your ***barred word*** contract deals home and abroad, Ghanaians remembered how much 3 classroom block cost during President Kuffuor's time and how much it tripled during ndc time is it not incompetence and st*aling? Ghanaians remembered how ndc set loose their bulldogs babies with sharp teeth to insult every Ghanaian who expressed his/her opinion which didn't favour ndc, Ghanaians remembered how ndc shared our mineral resources and oil among themselves, Ghanaians remembered how ndc showed force of power and order from above, Ghanaians remembered how ndc destroyed interventions that President Kuffuor brought to help the poor and needy, Ghanaians remembered how ndc short changed them with if you see a goat say a cow, the propaganda, lies and deceit they remembered them all and have stored them in their minds which will be brought out at any election. Ndc never take the good people of Ghana for granted for your type and kind of hardship and suffering was evil, cruel and very wicked.Ndc will rot in opposition, it will be good for you to get it than to deceive yourselves.
Apuuuuuuuuuuu, tickle your armoit Andy laugh
Hahahahahahahah

Concert party NDC at it again
It is interesting that after this shocking and embarrassing defeat, not even the MPs have woken from their sleep. They still see victory in Mahama? I'm happy they are still blinded to present JM. I suspect it is only JM who has enough resources to go through the next elections so they may be pushing him to spend what has been hoarded. Mahama can win even 90% at their primaries, but Ghanaians will give him nothing better that 40%. Let them spend the looted funds. At least some people will make money
