General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has eulogised the late former Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, describing him as a very restrained figure in politics.
He said he was admired by all especially his opponents and there were important lessons to be learnt from his character.
Part of his admirable traits, according to Mr Boadu was “being able to hold on to himself without being pushed by party hawks and people that believe that you must answer to everything and respond in like manner”.
The NPP General Secretary was speaking to 3FM Thursday, when he led his party’s delegation to file past the mortal remains of the former Vice President.
As part of a three-day funeral service for Mr Amissah-Arthur, the public was allowed to file past his body at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Thursday.
A burial service is scheduled to be held on Friday after which the mortal remains will be driven through some principal streets of Accra.
Taking his turn as part of NPP’s delegation, Mr Boadu, who won the General Secretary position earlier this month, said the late former vice president cut a good figure in his political life.
But he added: “Only that we believe he was in the wrong party.
“So with even that character it was a misnomer in their party.”
He said government is ready to collaborate with the Amissah-Arthur family to give the statesman a befitting send-off
“We expect them to come out with what they want to do in memory of him.”

That’s why till to date NPP is full of illerate starting from the top to the rotten grassroots. That’s why today in Ghana when you criticize the government or anything wrong about NPP you are been strangled because they are from God. They are Obinims angels, they are all knowing & perfect and are blemish. That’s their way of understanding the meaning of multi party democracy. So any meaningful Ghanaian who is not in NPP is thwarted as evil & Satan incarnate and on Sunday’s theses evil Ndc people sit in churches with them to listen to the word of God which says do not judge for judgement is for Lord. Multi party democratic Ghana. Amen
kd, you are such a f0000***000l no wonder in the ndc. A family member has come out to confess she talked him out of politics because they knew what ndc could do to harmless and good people. The same to Prof. Atta Mills family, they told him to not to accept the flagbearership because ndc are wicked ,callous murderers who will do whatever to be in power. We are watching if another central region native will accept ndc running mate or flagbearership to be used and killed to leave his wife and children behind. Prof. George Benneh was smart to leave the country when he was nominated by Former President JJ Rawlings, which made ndc congress in Sunyani a fiasco without a running mate being introduced. I give mrs Benneh high 5 for being the main architect of that fiasco, not allowing her husband to accept that nomination and I believe her husband is still alive. Ndc is mysterious and not good for Ghana and they will never stop amazing us with their ***barred word*** attitude. PK DA YIE!
he definitely found himself in a group of cr1minals and murderers called ndc
John Boadu should candidly compared his tolerance level with AMISSAR ARTHUR. If tolerance level determines which party should on belong to then Akuffo Addo's tolerance level does not match that of Amissar Arthbur hence....The truth is that there are crooks and die heart in all the parties. The statement of John Boadu shows that his tolerance level is questionable. NPP is more i ntolerant than the NDC and that has been confirmed by their Kennedy Adjapong
The NDC is a very wrong party for any sensible person join especially the fantis or people from the Central Region. All the prominent fantis who associated with the NDC died suddenly. Late Veep Arkaah, died tragically in mysterious accident , Late President Mills died just after having a family breakfast at the seat of Government. And now Former Veep Amissah-Arthur, who drove to usual morning gym exercise with the wife died suddenly after the exercise. People of Central Region must think carefully about this party called the NDC. They simply not a group to associate with.
And just you rightly said. Surely the majority of the NPP supporters will go to heaven because we do the right things, more than the NDC.
john boadu and those talking ***barred word*** here are all ***barred word*** people...KEEP YOUR GOOD PARTY AND GO TELL GOD AFTER UR DEATH THAT YOU BELONGED TO A GOOD PARTY.fooooooooooooooooooools
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOUR PARTY IS THE RIGH ONE?
@Eric. Truth must be told. In Ghana’s politics you cannot pretend to know which party is better except you are blinded by hypocrisy. You can’t tell us that the NPP is not the better party than the NDC.
What makes your party the right one. Tickle yourself and lough
