Minister for Regional Re-organization Dan Botwe has launched a blistering attack on former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani accusing him of insulting the intelligence of delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP).
Mpiani has mounted strong opposition to Acting New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddy Blay’s quest to be affirmed during the party’s National Executive elections slated for July 7, 2018 as he questioned the loyalty of the latter.
Mr Blay faces strong challenge from the four-time National Chairman contender Stephen Ayesu Ntim for the National Chairman position in an election which promises to be keenly contested at the party’s National Delegates Congress which comes of in Koforidua.
Mr Mpiani in an interview with Joy News insisted that it was a mistake in the first place to elect Mr Blay as a Vice Chairman of the NPP as he has not roots in the Danquah-Busia tradition.
“The Chairman of your party is the number one person in the party and so you must give the Chairman…you may not have voted for the person, you may not even like him and we’re all in the same party, and if majority say this is what we want to be the Chairman of the party we accept. They should look at the history of the party and choose loyalty to the party.”
When my Mpiani was asked by the Host if Mr Blay is loyal to the NPP, he responded “I don’t know… he’s a very good friend of mine but I never voted for him and I told him I don’t think it was proper for him to be elected the First Vice Chairman. He’s a friend so I asked him, Freddy, even with the stature I have in the NPP if I leave the NPP today and I come to the CPP and if you’re there will you make me a potter in CPP??
But reacting to Mr Mpiani’s comments in an interview with Joy FM, Mr Dan Botwe who’s also the former General Secretary of the NPP expressed surprise that the issue of loyalty has been raised barely 48 hours to the election.
“A party from opposition wins elections under the leadership of Mr Freddy Blay, you know the results 169 MPs and first round win of over 1 million votes and he’s led the party to achieve the very objective for which we put him there and so the party made a very good choice that in case there’s a crisis he should step in as the Chairman and to deliver and that’s exactly was he’s delivered.
“I’m surprised that the issue of loyalty can now be introduced in the whole arguments 48 hours before the election. The man chairs National Council of NPP and you now begin to talk about loyalty.

Hon. Dan Botwe, why are you waiting your precious time? Where was Opanyin Kwadwo Mpiani when lawyer Freddy Blay assumed the acting Chairmanship position? I think he is of Mr Afoko stock and nobody should listen to him at this crucial time.
No matter how true or factual Mr. Mpiani might sound, the timing is wrong and hence takes off all the merit it might have had. This should have been raised after the suspension of Mr. Afoko, in which case the right people could have considered and acted on it. The leadership of Mr. Blay throughout the campaign and triumph of the party has earned him the said loyalty that might have eluded him earlier. In addition to earning the loyalty of the party through his deeds, the party has checks and balances to deal with any anomaly that might occur
Dan, you have said it all ,truth is one but remember that truth is the most scarce commodity in Ghana today, politics in Ghana is defined as 'DO EVIL THAT GOOD MAY COME'.
Dan Botwe, admit that truth is one,Kwodjo Mpiani is right, if its about commitment, long service to party and loyalty, Stephen Ntim stands tall and miles ahead of blay, was is not this same blay who was a sitting member of parliament for c p p a few years ago when Ntim was in the thick of affairs in n p p?. Again remember when Allan Kyeremantin came in to contest for the npp presidential candidature,we said it was Akufo Addo's turn because he had earlier contested president kufuor at the primaries and that he should wait for his turn, Ntim also contested past national chairmen for three times at a time Blay was no where near n p p at the time, so it tells you its Ntim's turn, in any case what has changed now, this is purely a contest of LOYALTY vrs MONEY, we are watching,Ntim once donated cars to all n p p regional chairmen to aid their movements in party organisation at a time there was no contest, in 2016 np p needed vehicles to campaign and yet Blay never saw the need to procure vehicles, people used their personal cars/ motor bikes to campaign for the party to win power, today he has eleven million dollars to buy mini buses for the party, what a paradox, in December 2020 every voter will be a delegate/kingmaker,yoooo, again if it were about money John Mahama would have the 2016 hand down, the very people who voted him out will be around again in 2020,I believe Akufo Addo just want his name to appear in the records that he was once a president of Ghana if not those who actually sacrificed will not be forgotten so soon, we didn't see this under John Kufuor, yoooooo. We are watching the game of MONEY vrs LOYALTY, current delegates hear, 7 December,2020 delegates are standing by, yooooo
