MyNewsGH.com can confirm that the sitting of the Privileges Committee of Parliament over the matter of contempt involving Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, came to an abrupt end when most members of the Committee failed to show up.
The sitting which actually commenced, was hence suspended indefinitely by the Chairman, Joe Osei Owusu.
According to MyNewsGH.com’s source, most of the MPs on the committee wrote to the Chairman to recuse themselves from that particular hearing citing one reason or the other.
The Chairman hence admitted the letters of a number of the MPs withdrawing from the hearing after which he suspended the case indefinitely.
Many believe Kennedy Agyapong might have ‘blackmailed’ Muntaka Mubarak, Asawase MP with an information he (Ken) has on him in which he (Muntaka) was captured requesting for ‘bribe’ from Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, then Communications Minister-designate ahead of her vetting, as MyNewsGh.com reported 48 hours ago.
Kennedy Agyapong had said that he was ready to go ‘pound-to-pound’ with Muntaka and will ‘expose’ him over the Privileges Committee hearing.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Agyapong described Parliament as “useless”, “cheap”, for having Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as its Majority leader. In fact it was MyNewsGH.com who first reported this story.
The comments compelled the Minority Chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak, to file a motion that led to Kennedy Agyapong been referred to the Privileges Committee
Last week Tuesday, Muntaka Mubarak, who subsequently engaged in a fierce media war with Kennedy Agyapong over the matter, appeared before the committee to give evidence to back his claims and support his reasons to get Mr. Agyapong sanctioned.
The committee subsequently established a prima facie case against Mr Agyapong, hence his appointment with the committee today.
“I strongly believe that Parliament should suspend this gentleman for the rest of the year. He doesn’t deserve to be sitting in the House,” Muntaka Mubarak had said.
Muntaka Mubarak had earlier said an apology from Kennedy Agyapong would settle the matter.
“If he appears and he apologizes, I am sure it will end there, but if he appears and he is going to flex there, then obviously, it will go through the full haul.”

This are reasons you are “***barred word***”, “cheap”, as Majority leader
KN begye wo bo). Thank God for the life of Anas and KN. the actions of the MPs makes KN right. He insults them yet they lick his balls. truth be told. Ken is the President, The Vice, The Speaker, and the CJ. Nobody can do teeeh to him. He is the almigthy. I can only wait for 2020 to vote President Kennedy Agyapong out, because no one can touch him.
If they are not ***barred word*** as he described them, why would they run away from the sitting? These MP's are there for their selfish interest but not the interest of the country. I suggest the whole Parliament should be dissolved cus it's a drain on the economy.
Use.lesss ***barred word*** ad idioots who call themseves MP's these guys are just taking Ghanaians for a ride . you are lucky the whole world is preaching democracy ......fuuullls
They r a waste ,we have too many mps it has to be reduced to 100 then 30 from professional bodies.Even contract and legislation that have been agreeded on by both house do raise controversy subsequently.meaning they don't do a diligent job, they just come and sit for the allowance and monthly pay.
They all have skeleton in their cupboards and are afraid Ken Agyapong will blow it, so otilo, They are all running away with their tails in-between their legs.
I am personally going to wage a campaign for most of our MPs to be voted out of office. They are simply use.less MPs. How can't you deal with just one person? Sitting on his case doesn't necessarily mean removing him from parliament. At least show up and give him the chance to defend himself, but abandoning the committee is absolute nun sense. It's sad that these guys take so much money, but don't want to work. Their salaries can give us so many ambulances but they are there wasting our scarce resources. Shame on them!
