The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has denied being offered a ministerial appointment, which he rejected.
Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, who has resigned his position as President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) during his interaction with undercover journalists in the Anas Number12 documentary, which exposed corruption in football alleged that President Akufo-Addo offered the vociferous MP a ministerial position but he rejected it.
Mr Nyantakyi’s explanation was that Mr Agyapong had said he was not someone who could be a minister because of his demeanour and therefore opted for his friend Kweku Ofori Asiamah to work on his behalf as the Minister of Transport.
Responding to the allegation in a radio interview with Asempa FM Friday afternoon, Mr Agyapong said “from day one, from the time of [former] President [John] Kufuor, I have never been interested in a ministerial position. I’m a business man and I don’t want the situation where when I order for my better vehicle, Bentley, I’d be told I cannot use it as a minister.”
He said when the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako [Wontumi] for instance recently bought a new [sports] car, he was told by some people that he cannot use it because he was a party chairman, because people may accuse him of buying the vehicle with proceeds from corruption.
To Mr Agyapong, that was why he was not interested in a ministerial position.
“Life is short, I want to live comfortably because of my background as a hustler [I want to be able to enjoy my riches]… it has been my position [not interested in ministerial position] for a long time so the President never offered me any appointment. Before we won the elections, the President asked me several times, are you sure Kenny, you don’t want anything and I said I was sure. So the president was sure when he was making his appointment that I don’t want any position," he said.
He insisted the Transport Minister, Mr Asiamah was competent and got the position on his own merit.
However, he said there would have been nothing wrong if the President had offered Asiamah that position because of him [Agyapong].

When you give money or support to a political party, you do so because you believe in their philosophy and you are convinced that they will run the affairs of the nation appropriately to the benefit of the masses. What this Ken Agyapong is doing is no more than extortion and nothing short of a corrupt practice disguised as being a caring politician. WHY IS HE IN POLITICS IF HE IS THIS SO CALLED BIG TIME BUSINESSMAN HE CLAIMS TO BE? This man has cleverly bribed his way into politics for nothing more than to enrich himself. By being close to the power brokers he gets first hand information of all the juicy contracts in the country which he subsequently, through his bogus companies he bids for these contracts and by bribing the right people ends up enriching himself. If he is that good a businessman then how come he does not have manufacturing companies employing people? Apart from the government contracts all he has are businesses which are nothing more than a front for money laundering. To this end whenever he feels that his government contracts are threatened he goes on the attack threatening people with all sorts. It is time he is brought down a peg or two for people to see how hollow he really is.
BUT WHO SAYS YOU WILL OFFERED A MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENT? ANY PERSON WHO THINKS AND MAKES THAT ATTEMPT MUST BE AS DAFT AS YOU ARE. FORGET MY BROTHER.
You guys in this forum are just making noise. Fairness to fairness the equation does not balance. Just as Anas is blackmailing people don't you think Ghanaians deserve to know his source of income and money? laundering. Ghanaians must also sue him for disgracing us outside through BBC and Ajazeera.
If you have anything against Anas prove it in court with concrete evidence and stop making noise. You made your money dupping people with American Visa lottery which is absolutely free from the American government. In any developed country you would have been arrested for many hours of false statements against Anas from one radio to tv station. If you have evidence go to court.
Honorable Kennedy Agyapong is saying Anas aremeyaw anas is corrupt to me I don't see it effect would affect any institution.
