Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has expressed complete disgust at what he describes as the ‘sick’ state the country finds itself in presently.
According to him, the system has been dented with such recklessness and irresponsibility such that there is but very little sanity left for which reason the country’s progress is inhibited.
Speaking on Adom TV, Mr. Agyapong highlighted the poor attitude of Ghanaians towards work and customers and the corrupt nature of our culture as the major factors for retrogression and a failing system in the country. He among other things touched on the appalling conditions at health facilities and emergency wards nationwide.
He bemoaned the situation where patients, particularly persons who require keen attention are subjected to inhumane treatment when they seek the services of these facilities and others completely ignored by so-called medical professionals when they are at their weakest points.
The lackadaisical attitude by management and employees of local airlines, hotels, and public utility providers towards passengers and clients according to him, are also clear indicators of the terrible state of affairs as it currently stands in the country.
“You should see the way patients are treated in the hospitals. There are people lying on the floor of emergency wards in several hospitals, men and women alike, grown women exposing their vitals because there is not enough space. What kind of system is this?, the country is sick, the country is sick”
“The Ministry of Aviation must check all the airlines, the way they treat passengers. In one instance, I was grossly disrespected by one staff of one airline….in another, about 40 passengers got to their destination only to realise their luggage hadn’t arrived….we are not animals to be treated that way…..what kind of system is this? You are disrespected when you travel outside and you have to face the same disrespect in your own country?”
“Ghanaians have a problem with attitude. If you are being treated at a hotel outside Ghana, regardless of how small their pay is, they treat you with so much dignity, it’s different in Ghana, they think they are doing you a favor when they are serving you, it is the same when you go to several other offices and places in Ghana”.
He chided preachers for brainwashing their followers with ‘unnecessary’ sermons, leaving out the most important; ‘attitude’
.
“Pastors also add theirs, indoctrination, many of the pastors are just teaching ways to find money, leaving the attitude part out”.
Kennedy Agyapong urged President Akufo-Addo and the NPP to put in stringent measures to deal with the loopholes in the country's system without fear or favor. He advised that the President channel his attention to the health sector when the issues of Free SHS and education are dealt with.
"We need to revolutionize the system by changing the system by force and making Ghanaians realise the need for a change. President Akufo-Addo must focus his attention on health next after addressing the issues with the education sector", he said.

its about time workers in evry institution realise they are not doing anyone any favour when they are performing their duties. If you think you are not paid well and that you dont enjoy what you are doing, just leave the job. Afterall there are a lot of people seeking jobs.
did you say a professional earns GHC4500 and so must behave towards the person who makes him or her get that GHc4500, what kind of logic is that?
Even tax officials demand bribe when you are going to pay corporate taxes. Ghana is indeed sick. Nana Addo should begin cracking the whip.
Thumbs up KEN, for making my day for the first time. But who watches the watchman. The institutions responsible in correcting these mess that we find ourselves in as country are themselves sick. So truly the country has a big problem at hand to deal with regarding what Honorable has just exposed. This calls for a collective effort by all to combat this menace irrespective of party colors and affiliations. The Citizenry should be empowered to challenge any service provider who misbehaves during the course of work. Or there should a complaint desk in institutions and organizations where people could lodge complains for redress and the offending employee reprimanded. Some nurses at Cocoa clinic are the worst culprits of these bad attitude, I have had a personal experience and knows what am talking about.
@ OJO,if they begin to fire them, they will e professional. As am typing, my bosses have gone home after their work. Do you know who am here with? CCTV, not a human being. So if Ghanaians want their country to prosper, they should put measures and am talking of strict measures in place
A NURSE WAS TAKING MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND HAD HER PHONE TO HER EARS TALKING AT THE SAME TIME. SO I SAID TO HER, PLEASE FINISH TALKING BEFORE TAKING MY PRESSURE.I CAN DO BOTH THAT WHAT SHE SAID.I ALSO SAID THAT BOTH WOULD NOT BE ON ME.SHE SAT DOWN AND NEVER ATTENDED TO ME.THE THING ABOUT THAT WAS,THAT NURSE COULD NOT BE THE SAME AGE OF MYFOURTH BORN.I END HERE.
this is the problem we have in Ghana and we will continue to be sick till thy kingdom come. Whiles this man has said the right thing going on in our beloved country, someone is referring him to AMA, yes Ghana fuo, we know too much and this is killing us gradually. And you think if you don't have your peace in your own country, you will get it anywhere, forget it.
Ghanaian s are truly sick. they are always reluctant in earning their salary in their motherland, but they dont care cleaning faeces in the white mans country to earn a living. we can be compared to animals metaphorically.
Ken, a specialist in a govt hospital earns ghc4500 a month, politicians only think about themselves and some of them are the dumbest people on earth. You want First Class service you have to pay health workers well
Please we dont have to go far to find ways to solve some of these problems. There are enough monies with groups, companies and individual which can take care of most of our problems. The only problems is to fine tune institutions to work for these monies to be paid back.
