Ex-President John Dramani Mahama has slammed Ghana's media for taking an unbridled interest in the affairs of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not in the activities of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He wondered why the media has suddenly become "anxious" of the NDC and made the party their attention instead of focusing on the current administration.
Ex-President, speaking to former Ministers and Deputies as well as Presidential Staffers in Accra on Tuesday, March 28, was disappointed in the media because to him before the 2016 elections, they were not interested in the party.
He wondered why all of sudden, "it should be about NDC. Why is the media so anxious to give us so much airtime today? Before the elections, they didn't come chasing you to ask you what you think. All the airtime was going to our opponents. Then all of sudden, now you know as much airtime; the prime time morning shows, they're looking for NDC people and saying what's your comment about what's happening in your party and it's about the NDC today. Why should it be about the NDC?"
Mr. Mahama decided to school the journalists in Ghana, making reference to the Western media with regards to the Trump administration, unlike Ghana's media which takes delight in talking about the opposition NDC.
"The democrats lost, who's talking about the democrats in America? It's about Trump and the new administration. They're collecting the people's taxes. They should be the focus of media attention. Why is the NDC the focus of media attention at this time?" he questioned.
Mr. Mahama somehow believed the media cabal he once referred to is at work again.
"It just shows that there's a certain deviousness to try to make this about the NDC and not about who's in government and how they're fulfilling their promises. And unfortunately, we're falling into the trap".

The reason was that your arrogant and corrupt ministers and other appointees did not open up to them. Some were so rude when media members approached them. At that time. NPP was chasing them for press conferences. NDC need to change and appoint respectful, non corrupt and matured people to run its affairs.
I think the jon of all John's is mentally retarded... Just look @ who is telling NPP to find a more civilized way of retrieving government vehicles from NDC greedy bastards. U need a psychologist
when we get our stolen v8s we'll stop talking about the ndc cos they're irrelevant in ghana politics. why are all ndc ministers still walking free and not populating nsawam?
The way is talking shows there is a problem and if the NDC party does not help him to deal with his huge massive loss, there could be danger. It is very, very dangerous and the NDC must help him deal with the severe defeat Ghana promised him. His utterances shows there is danger and they must save him. It is serious. The NDC must save him now and cool him down. He is not he last President to be punished so severely and he won't be the last. So the NDC party must help their ex-leader to deal with the danger.
Even in opposition, he is incompetent!!!! Your analogy shows your IQ level is low. If all the airtime was going to the opposition NPP and now you, the ndc is in opposition, the airtime must come to you. This is a prove that the media is fair and balanced. Am sure you have still not recovered from the hangover from the onaapo beer of 44.4% alcohol content. Remain in your sleep!
Mahama needs to see his doctors immediately. I don't like the way he was breathing. that is not healthy at all
Oh Prez Mahama. Hmmmmm. Need l say anything? Please, please, please you are a government in waiting and your activities must be scrutinized as well as that of the government. The Democrats in the US are well behaved, matured and professional hence no much attention on them for now. Your party feels you are the better than NPP who trashed you in the last election hence the attention. Your party is not carrying itself well as of now. Everybody just talking anyhow. No direction, no leadership, no focus. Rather, members of your party with low IQ are always in the news..i.e Kofi Adams and Porturphy. Can you honestly match Porturphy to Kwabena Adjei? This is the problem why the negative attention. No strategy. Just talking by heart. You will realize no one now takes Asiedu Nketia serious...that's the fact. NDC need respected people to lead it. I mean people who command respect. Unfortunately Mr. Prez JDM, you don't qualify......Yaaawor (Go sleep)
Mr ex-president I am really disappointed in you for this comments. Were you not the one who bought all the media in Ghana and lambasted the opposition to the extent of saying they are not united. You were granted free exposure at the expense of the NPP. Please allow us to rule peacefully.
The media always gives a platform to the opposition to give them a voice.Unfortunately, when they get power they turn round to bash the media until they fall. Again, unfortunately, they never learn. They repeat their mistakes over and over again.
I can see Mr. Mahama hasn't learnt any lesson from his defeat just like the NDC in general. I find it very difficult to believe that an ex-president can talk like the way Mr. Mahama does. His utterances are far low. Has he forgotten so soon? Some few months to the election, there is no TV/radio station one will tune in without seeing or hearing anything about NDC unlike NPP who one sees or hears of just some few times. Just listen to what you are saying today to the media. STOP BEING UNFAIR TO THE MEDIA Mr. Ex-president. During the heat of the campaigns, all your messages were centered on Nana Addo and the NPP. Who then focused on NPP, you of couse. This is childish talk I beg.
