President Nana Akufo-Addo, has learnt, has summoned police chief David Asante-Apeatu to the Flagstaff House over Thursday’s violent attack on a Kumasi Circuit Court by some members of pro-government vigilante group Delta Force to free 13 of their colleagues who were standing trial for an earlier violence meted out on the Regional Security Coordinator.
The court, presided over by Mary Nsenkyire, had ordered that the 13 suspects be remanded to reappear on 20 April.
However, the irate Delta Force who had gathered at the court took the suspects away, vandalised court property and almost assaulted the judge in the process.
Only two police officers on duty at the court, one of them being a pregnant officer, managed to whisk the judge into her chambers for protection.
The 13 were on trial for assaulting the Ashanti regional security coordinator, George Agyei, who they said could not be allowed to serve in that capacity given he was not native to the region and did not help in the campaign towards the NPP’s victory in 2016.
He was prevented from performing his duties, being yanked from his office on Friday March 24. Police first arrested the leader of the group, Kwadwo Bamba, from his office and made more arrests subsequently while others turned themselves in. The 13 accused persons have been charged with conspiracy to assault, assaulting a public officer, and causing unlawful damage.
Meanwhile, the Police say they have arrested eight of the thugs that stormed the court to cause the mayhem. They are investigating the matter.

The international community is keenly watching us. This behaviour is a recipe to driving away foreign investors in the country and for that matter the region. Gov't should be bold and act swiftly to curtail future attacks on our court system by these nation wreckers.

All the NDC guys commenting, May I ask if Mahama would have summoned the police chief when he was in power. It show Nana is in control. Give us a break.
Where are they: mensah otabil, matey, stephen addai, chief imam, catholic bishops, peace council about the lawlessness. Eihhh, now you are not even safe in court because the amasses can enter and execute what they see as their own justice. Is it not clear that Ghana was at peace under Mahama??? The elders were right who said they cannot sleep under nana addo's presidency. what happened during the sunny day must happen during the rainy day. the hypocrisy is too much
