Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Koku Anyidoho has kicked against suggestions to enroll various vigilante groups associated with the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] as National Security officers.
According to him, the idea being mooted by NPP’s outspoken leader, Kennedy Agyapong should not even be considered by government at all.
“In as much as we want to employ the youth, National Security shouldn’t be a dumping ground for these unemployed youth. That is dangerous. We shouldn’t joke with that,...it should be a specialised area for professionals or those trained for such jobs,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong insists NPP youth groups that provided security services for the party are recognised within the structures of the party and must therefore be protected, now that the NPP is in power.
“The vigilante groups are recognized in the party and so I will personally make sure they are recruited into national security. If it is employment they seek, we will gladly employ them to continue working for Ghana. Any of the Invincible Forces and Delta Forces who have no work should come to me today, we will offer them employment,” he said.
One of the groups, Delta Force, has come under public scrutiny following their latest attack on the recently assigned Ashanti regional security coordinator.
Before then, the infamous Invincible Force had been blamed for many atrocities on innocent citizens since the party won the 2016 elections.
The groups are believed to have rendered private security services to the NPP while they were in opposition.
Many Ghanaians, including the Christian Council of Ghana have called for the disbandment of the groups, but the parties has often justified their existence.
Speaking on the matter, Koku lamented that “Is this the low level we want to drag our national security? Is the national security now a dumping ground?”
“What training do these boys have after they have badly exposed themselves as party faithfuls? Are we going to paint the National Security in party colors?” he questioned.

***barred word*** Koku, are they not Ghanaian's?
as for this your Kennedy Agypong? does he really knows what the national security is and the calibre of people who should be hired? he talks like a goat eating yam, no sense baako po
I think Ayidoho has a point here. the national security can't be painted with party colours. If these groups must be provided employment as it serves them as Ghanaians then there is no reason to deny them. but we don't have to risk by putting them in positions that needs a neutral person to fill. if you claim that the NDC did they same thing so the NPP must pay them back. then I think the NPP must also be in opposition cos the NDC did it and that's where it ended them. It will be very unwise if we repeat the mistakes of our predecessors.
EWE/AYIEBWE MAN TALKING LIKE AKAN.WANCH WANCH SON.DO YOU KNOW YOUR BACKGROUND AYIEBWE MAN SHOUT YOUR BIG WEE MOUTH.KWAS--IAAABA.RAWLINGS MADE YOU PEOPLE POPULAR.ADUA NE GARI BA.
Koku, because of your arrogance, you will remain in opposition for ever. You talk as if Ghana is for you. And that is what sent you to opposition.Rude, Arrogance, Pomposity.
I thought that is where the guy was posted when his president died.
Oh Koku that was the same thing you and NDC did so NPP are going to remove your people and they (NPP) will put their people there. This will include all those who have illegitimately entered the police, prison service, fire service and the military. I remember very well all those who were servicing and filling pot holds on the roads were sacked and you put your people there and gave them different uniforms. This occurred just after 2008 elections. The foot soldiers of NPP have to eat as your own did.
Now you are talking trash. Honourable Ken pls do as you have said
Koku are you working now?, the answer no .. you yourself is unemployed talking employment people ... lets think about ourselves .. President Mahama you claim you don,t love him you said you are just working for him , now Mahama job you do for has come to an end so my friend you are employed man ***barred word*** ...
