General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed says the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) should cease sponsoring the Senior National football team; the Black Stars.
According to him, it doesn't make any sense that the company would pump huge monies into the national team when the team is already being funded by the Government of Ghana.
He noted that the GNPC is a State-owned company and so wondered why it would fund the Black Stars.
He advised the management of the company to channel such financial resources to rather fund President Nana Akufo-Addo's free SHS policy.
“They should stop giving money to the Black Stars. They should stop such nonsense and use that money to help free education. The whopping sums that they give to the Black Stars, it doesn’t make sense to me,” he said when contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo".
