"My problem with Electoral Commission is that I think it's shameful that you'll charge the media to cover the elections. We're not a very sincere people. We would like to cover things up," Multiple award-winning host of Peace FM's flagship programme 'Kokrokoo' turned the heat on the Electoral Commission (EC) over the Commission's charges for accreditation for media practitioners in the country.
The EC asked the various and interested media houses that seek to cover the 2016 Elections to pay money before they receive accreditations to give field reports on the elections.
Each media house is required to meet the financial charges by the Commission or forfeit its election coverage.
Responding to the EC's order, Mr. Sefa Kayi, affectionately called "Chairman General" for his unmatched broadcast acuity, lambasted the Commission for being unfair to the media.
He expressed his resentments, saying the EC's decision is "just like State protocol asking journalists to pay money to cover the 6th March Independence anniversary. I don't think it's a very good thing you've done. Sadly, we won't talk about it. We'll push it under the carpet but you're denying journalists the right to report the truth and the situations that happen to people. I don't think it's a smart thing to do. I don't know why as a journalist or as part of the media here, we should pay money..."
Chairman General therefore cautioned the EC stating emphatically that "if we're not careful, we'll end up reporting disaster. Little things like what the Electoral Commission has done to us as journalists is what starts this small (small) things. What is 10 cedis to you from a journalist? What is 20 cedis to you from a journalist? We've done it since 1992. Why are you charging us?
"Because you want us to pay for accreditation, what is accreditation? A piece of paper with our names and lamination and we have to pay for it to cover elections that have to do with the future of this country. I am not very happy as a media person."

sometime i feel sad to be a Ghanaian. why? is it a crime to be a Ghanaian? I'm not old but from what my eyes have seen and ears have heard i feel sad for mother Ghana. why should the media be charged for covering Elections? The indiscipline is too much in Ghana and its all because those we call our fathers and mothers have lost their sense of INTEGRITY. God have mercy on mother Ghana. "lets make Ghana great again"
KWAME, SINCE YOU HAVE CALLED ON US TO SPEAK TO POWER, I WANT TO ADMONISH YOU TO TELL YOUR FELLOW JOURNALIST TO STOP TAKING MONEY FROM POLITICAL PARTIES TO CHAMPION THEIR CAUSE ON OUR AIRWAVES AND IN THE PRINT MEDIA.
THE DAY GOD WILL BRING THIS FACELESS NDC BUNDITS OUT OF POWER WE GHANAIANS WILL BE MOST GRATEFUL TO OUR GOD. THEN WE WILL SEE THOSE WHO DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH WHAT THE EC CHAIR IS DOING. EVEN WORKERS AT THE EC AT THE VARIOUS REGIONS AND DISTRICTS ARE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT MADAM CHARLLOTE IS DOING BUT FOR FEAR OF INTIMIDATION THEY KEEP QUITE.
Good Job Kwami! But what took you so long to speak up? Keep up the good work. For God has your back.
O yesss this is my man komi you make my year l salute you for your honesty Bro that is all
Kwame Nkromah Tikese should learn from this man.
Ghana cowards only hide behind the computer to comment, when you look at the U TV page on facebook where the video is, you can only see comments praising kwame, then the cowards who act bold but are scared to show themselves run here behind close door where no one will see them to comment...after all he was bold to say it to the face of the EC, Police and the rest you can also try and be man enough to say it to his face...hiding behind a computer is not man enough
Why didn't you bring ur name and brought Nana Addo Beda? If you are really a man enough go to Peace FM ant asked Kwame Sefa Kai to pay any money you think he has stolen. Don't hide behind computer to insult people with integrity. This platform is there to bring out issues and opinions concerning the nation and individuals as a whole and not for insulting, you guys should grow up. What is it at that you have been given? Don't you have eyes or ears to see and hear what's going on the country. Shame on you. Next come out like a mature and civilized person and not like a toddler and stop using Nana Addo's name as your name Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul
Politics is killing this great Country, you are attacking someone who has fought well to get to where he is because he just voice out the truth. God should forgive you all for attacking him. Bravo Sefa
sefa kai, you could have delivered your point without pointing fingers and using words like shameful, petty and senseless. a simple name tag cost about 7 cedis, lamination is about 3 ghana cedis, think about the certified results printout that would be handed to the media houses. i don't think the EC is planning to hide something from the media, she is just trying her best not to throw her budget overboard. on the Police Commander, Kwame , you goofed big time. investigations is ongoing, you don't expect the commander to go arresting and charging people without any shred of evidence. Kwame , if you have any authentic evidence, give it to the police to aid them in their investigation.
