The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has said that the poll results for the December presidential and parliamentary elections will not be delayed for more than three days.
“We are confident that we can still get all the results and declare within two, maximum three days, so, we vote on December 7, by 10th of December, we get all the results announced," Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei has assured Ghanaians.
This, she was confident, will be achieved by the use of manual and electronic means to have the results collated by the Commission and declared in time.
Mrs Osei said this year’s election will be free and fair. She said the list of polling stations across the country and the final voters’ register would be made available to political parties by the end of October.
According to the commission, this would ensure a high level of transparency ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
She revealed this as she addressed the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs on Wednesday, October 26 , on preparations towards this year’s elections.
She said no polling station would hold more than 850 voters in this year's elections. According to her, this would ease pressure on verification and vote counting machines on the Election Day.
“The political parties by Friday will get a list of all the polling stations,” she stressed.
In addition “all of them (political parties) who have brought their hard drives will have a list of the final voters’ register”.
She stressed: “The register has now been finalised; we have implemented all the decisions and we are in a good place and so they (political parties) will have the register at the end of this week. We will probably have an approximately 15,800,000 names thereabout on the register going into the elections.”

Madam, how many of these are registered abroad. NPP pls analyse the register very well and ensure all loopholes are blocked. we do not trust the EC.
The register is clearly bloated; 15.8 millions registered voters? that's not right. The NPP must as a matter of urgency look into this and start devising strategies to ensure only credible people voted on the election day. Ghanaians, are crying for change. Let's make this happen
