Police in the Northern Region have confirmed that the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, has been invited for questioning over unsavoury comments regarding the December elections.
Mr Naabu said at the party's rally at Savelugu a few days ago that the party would deploy armed macho men to guard ballot boxes on December 7.
The police have already cautioned political parties against the use of vigilante groups on Election Day to forestall any incidences of violence that could lead to chaos.
The Public Relations Officer of the Northern regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, who spoke to Graphic Online in an interview on Wednesday, October 19, said police had “contacted Mr Naabu on the matter but he is currently at Kpandai and has promised that when he comes back he would honour the invitation".
Already security analyst Dr Kwesi Aning had suggested that it was high time the security agencies, especially the Ghana Police Service, started inviting for questioning politicians who incite violence.
Speaking in an interview with Emefa Apawu on Class91.3FM’s 505 news programme on Tuesday, 18 October, about the recent comment by Mr Naabu, Dr Kwesi Aning said: “There is something wrong somewhere.”
Dr Aning said the use of such language was festering because, “First, the security agencies, especially the police service, are not using the law to deter people from hateful and inciting language.
“Number two is the failure of the political parties themselves and their leadership to distance themselves from statements that are unbecoming of their political parties. …I think all our political parties have failed in terms of the language that they use that really insult our common humanity, so, there is a problem here and I think it casts a slur on all of us as Ghanaians and I’m hoping that the Ghana Police Service will be a little bit bolder and proactive in inviting people for a polite conversation and encouraging them to desist from using language that is threatening, that is abusive, that is hateful, and encourages and glorifies the use of violence.”
In his view, once the Police Service starts inviting politicians for questioning, it will serve as a deterrent.

I hope this would not be a nine-day wonder. The police should question anybody who make unsavory and unsafe comment in the country. We must not create any room for any dangerous political gambling.
NDC HAS BOUGHT BATURE, KWESI PRATT, BEN EPHSON AND SOME OTHERS BUT THEY CAN'T BUY ALL MEDIA MEN AND WOMEN ESPECIALLY THE PATRIOTIC ONES. MEDIA MEN AND WOMEN WHO LOVE GHANA MORE THAN THIER STOMACH SHOULD HELP US UPROOT BARAWO MAHAMA AND HIS NDC GANG OF JULOR, BRING IN A PRESIDENT AND MINISTERS WHO WILL NOT STEAL GHANA MONEY INTO THEIR POCKETS BUT USE GHANA MONEY FOR MAKING LIFE BETTER FOR ALL GHANAIANS.
The first time I realized that this so called security expert called Dr Aning is fake and compromised was when he made that silly comment about the south African security experts who the BNI arrested and detained illegally. When a media house called for his opinion, Dr Aning spoke like one of the NDC foot soldiers. Where has Aning been since NDC thugs started attacking NPP people in Suhum and other places? Has he ever heard of the Azorka boys in Tamale? Its so sad that we have such educated 1diots in Ghana parading as experts. All of them have been bought with vehicles and some cash. Pathetic souls! As for the police service, the least said about them the better. Bribe taking is what they do best. Apart fro that, NOTHING matters!
THE NDC (NATIONAL DEMONS CONGRESS) IS THE ONE AND ONLY VIOLENT PARTY THAT WAS FORMED BY VIOLENT THUGS AND GOONS IN GHANA, PERIOD!!!!!!
Invite them whether ndc or npp.
I think what naabu said is not as dangerous as what Stephen amoah said on okay FM on Monday. Bugri said they would armed civilian protect ballot boxes but Stephen was categorical that they would kill people in Ashanti region. How can you take the law into your own hands and kill even if you think some people have done wrong. Stephen amoah should also be invited by Kofi boakye. Whether an NDC or Npp activist or leader does anything wrong they need to be invited. Overwhelming majority of Ghanaians are thinking about how they can go about their business whether nana addo wins or Mahama wins. The last thing any Ghanaian want is violence because of few politicians who just want retain power or gain power to fill their pockets. There are so many Ghanaians in the villages who am sure don't even know the name of who the president of Ghana is. Many care about their peace to go to farm to work and get some food stuff to feed their family they don't care about all these nun sense by politician. They should let us have our peace.
It is now very clear that the so called security expert, Kwesi Aning is pro NDC. When was he when the Azorka boys were displaying in the north. Where was Kwasi Aning when President Mahama was insulting Dr Bawumiah? Where was Kwasi Aning when Aseidu Nketiah went to Wa to castigate the NPP. This sort of stomach politicians parading as security experts business must stop. If Bugri Naabu has backed his words and has been seen with guns or He has been seen organizing people and giving them weapons, then his invitation could be undestandable. Watch this Kwasi aning and the like because that is what Bombande and others did and the government invited them and gave them political appointment
Bugri naabu kpotoc!! I'm not surprised at all, just like elephant , big body small brain.
Buu luu ,buu, luu like you Johnathan lagos with no sense. Where were the police when azorka Mach men attacked PPP members?are the police for the ndc or for Ghana? This will never scare nobody. Toothless police who gets teeth only on the opposition will regret their actions if they allow their ndc police to misbehave during the election time. Ghanaians don't like your candidate John mahama who is wasting Ghana's money for re-election which is impossible and if you the police do the st*pid thing which Kudalor was selected by mahama to do,then , I think Ghana can not contain all of us. If you are sensible, you will play it fair not falling for the ndc who are already in opposition. What did you police Kudalor say about the ndc thugs in Suhum who attacked the ladies? Your akpeteshie face is not scary to Ghanaians and you continue to dance to the music of the ndc, when it starts like the agbogbolonshie one when Cephas Arthur was running away but was saying I'm not running away but he run away that day will be like a movie to you. You test the anger of the people. St*pid police and their us*less national security. Obiaa,ny3 obiaa ooo.
BUU.LUU NAABU ETSC ABOBONUA NAABU. LOS.SEA OKUMME LORBOOOR. BIG BODY NO SENSE..
