President John Mahama has promised the people of the Gbi Traditional Area in the Hohoe municipality of the Volta Region to repair the chief’s palace that was burnt during a conflict in the area in 2009.
According to him, the committee that was set up to find out the cause and give recommendations had finished with its work and submitted its final report to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Attorney General.
Speaking during an interaction with the people of Hohoe on Wednesday October 19 as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region, Mr Mahama said: “When we came into office in 2009, I came as Professor Atta Mills’ running mate. There was a very unfortunate conflict that took place here in Hohoe and it was one of the major assignments Professor Mills gave to me. He asked me to leave everything I was doing to come to Hohoe and make sure that we mediate the conflict and settle it as quickly as possible. I want to thank the chiefs and elders of the Gbi Traditional Area, opinion leaders…the MCE and everybody who supported to have this conflict settled amicably.
“Today, when I come to Hohoe and I see the unity and the oneness that have developed between the people, living together in peace, unity and stability, it gives me a lot of happiness in my heart.
“After the conflict, a committee was set up and the committee came up with its recommendations and its findings. The findings and recommendations were given to the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and the Attorney General. I want to assure that we are going to implement the … recommendations of the committee to the full.”
He added: “We have started the implementation with regards to the restoration and repair of Togbe’s palace. There are shops that were burnt – about four, five, six shops in town were brunt, two people lost their lives and other properties were destroyed. We are doing an evaluation of those properties so that we can pay compensation to the people who were affected.”

Eeeiii Togbega fo you believe this man? He loves telling lies than the truth. This man and his wife have duped the B/A his wife home region in millions of cedis ending the lives of some, and getting to the election time he went there and promised them payment only to be giving GHc3500 each which has led to the death of someone who invested GHC 600,000 in the B/A 3 days ago. So how do you trust somebody who lied to his own in-laws to their deaths to do you good? Don't tell your people to do the unthinkable to regret later. John mahama is a liar and deceiver he belongs to the serpent in the Bible. Vote for change for a good government for you to benefit. You can have a new palace by the $1million to every district. Vote the liars and deceivers out for Ghana to progress in prosperity.
