The incumbent NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has confirmed reports that he filed his nomination to contest in the parliamentary election as an independent candidate.
However, "I have called people to go and withdraw my nomination form".
The MP for Bantama who was speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview from Germany Monday, said "the whole thing was miscommunicated".
"Yes I filed to contest as an independent candidate; but I have called my representatives this morning to go to the Electoral Commission to withdraw it. I am not ready to talk about why I took that decision...at the appropriate time, I will explain".
Hon. Kokofu has also appealed to other party members who want to go independent.
"I appeal to those who have also decided to go independent to stop and put all their support behind those who have been officially elected by the party. we need to have a united front.
Resignation
Hon Kokofu has also debunked rumors that he has resigned from the party.
"I am still a member of the NPP, I have not resigned and I will never resign" he said.
