The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Bekwai, Adusei Poku, has denied an allegation that he owed a diesel dealer an amount of GH₵3,900 and had refused to pay.
A diesel dealer at Wassa Bodie in the Western Region, one Nana Owusu-Afriyie, has accused the former MP of refusing to pay for gallons of diesel he (the former MP) purchased for his purported small-scale mining activities.
According to the diesel dealer, Mr. Adusei Poku had been purchasing diesel from him on credit for his mining operation in the region.
He alleged that about six months ago, he bought some gallons of diesel amounting to about GH3,900.00 and promised to pay later.
Nana Owusu-Afriyie indicated that since he had been dealing with Adusei Poku for some years, he agreed to give the product to him on credit.
He disclosed that six months after buying the diesel, the former MP had refused to pay the money. However, the former legislator has claimed that he had never refused to pay for any diesel he purchased from Nana Owusu-Afriyie.
He told 'Daily Guide' the diesel costing GH3,900, was rather purchased by some of his workers on credit with his name and that they (workers) promised to pay back later. And so it is not true that I have credited the product and have refused to pay, he stressed.
