Members of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the Socialist Forum yesterday marked the death of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.
The brief event was attended by the National Chairman and Leader of the CPP, Prof Edmund N. Delle, the presidential candidate of the CPP, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, the eldest child of Osagyefo, Prof Francis Nkrumah, a leading member of the Socialist Forum, Mr Kwesi Pratt, Jr, among other dignitaries.
A statement read at the event stated, “On April 27, 1972, death laid its icy hands on the greatest African of all - Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah in Bucharest, Romania, far away from his birthplace of Nkroful.
“Because of his contribution to Ghana, Africa and the course and redirection of world history, we the members of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) remember and honour him on this 44th anniversary of his death.
“We recall his good works for Ghana, Africa and the world.”
