Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was forced to take cover in a bomb shelter after a rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip to city where he was hosting a campaign visit.
The Israeli military confirmed the launch against Ashkelon, which is 7.5 miles (12 km) from the coastal Palestinian enclave, saying the rocket was shot down by an Iron Dome air defence interceptor.
