Records available indicates that over four hundred and twenty two million US dollars ($US422, 372,879.95), and over sixty six thousand Ghana cedis (66,436,679.77), have been awarded as contracts to Ghanaian companies and individuals in the petroleum sector.
This is against the backdrop that oil companies operating under the countries petroleum agreements are not required to award contracts to any Ghanaian entity based on region.
A deputy minister of Energy, Inusah Fuseini said this in parliament in response to a question by Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who was seeking to know the value of Ghanaian entrepreneurial participation in the oil and gas business.
