Im Better Than Akufo-Addo Ofosu-Ampofo

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo says the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is unfit to become President of Ghana. According to him, people should not even compare Nana Akufo-Addo to Atta Mills because the presidential candidate of the opposition party cannot even match him (Ofosu-Ampofo) in terms of achievements during their tenure as MPs in the Eastern region. Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo made the disclosure in Ho while addressing aggrieved market women at the Ho Central Market. The women had threatened to hit the streets to register their displeasure over the deterioration of the Ho market and boycott the December elections. In an attempt to improve the fortunes of the ruling NDC in the Ho Municipality, the Local Government Minister said I want to respond to Akufo Addo when he said that President Mills has nothing to show as a legacy. I am challenging him to lets go back to the Eastern region. I was an MP for Fanteakwa for eight years; he was an MP for Abuakwa for 12 years. Between me and Akufo-Addo lets check our records and see who has helped the people and who has developed his constituency. But the Minister, who has been boasting about his achievements at Fanteakwa, has currently pitched camp at Tema West where he is contesting the seat as parliamentary candidate of the NDC after two successive electoral defeats. Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said, I dont want to pair Akufo Addo with President Mills; I want to pair myself against Akufo-Addo. He noted that during Akufo Addos reign as MP he failed to secure a single cement block for the Abuakwa State College, but under the ruling NDC government the school has seen development upon development. He recounted how Nana Akufo-Addos uncle and other relatives suffered before crossing the Birim River in Kyebi, especially after torrential rains. If nothing at all the legacy of President Mills in the area is that he has constructed a steel bridge over the river. President Mills will leave a legacy. The legacy of President Mills is that today in my own village which is close to Akufo-Addo own uncles house, there is bridge over the Birim River, which was there for 40 years. Nobody constructed a bridge over itwhen it rained we are unable to cross. When you go to the farm and it rains you have to sleep in the bush. His (Akufo Addo) own uncle has cocoa farm in that village for 40 years but they couldnt cross the place with a vehicle to their village. President Mills came and in three years time he has constructed a giganticgargantuan steel bridge over the river. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo noted that comparing Atta Mills achievements to those of Rawlings and Kufuor was unfair and therefore called on Ghanaians to give Mills eight years to ensure a fair comparison among the three. Lets go back and do the history. I went to the Eastern region as Regional Minister for two years, the records are there. The projects we executed within the two years, he stressed. He urged the market women and party faithful across the country to inform the whole world about the Better Ghana agenda. The time has come for us to tell our own story, if people will not tell it we will tell it. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo revealed that with the volume of developments in the region, we will have our projects on television everyday.
