What Has President Mills Done... What Is Akufo-Addo Bringing On Board - Lecturer

A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampoh, has said President Mills retention of Vice President John Dramani Mahama as his running mate for 2012 is not crucial in retaining power for the NDC unless Ghanaians are convinced President Mills has performed well. He however said retaining the Mills-Mahama ticket is nonetheless significant. Mr Gyampoh said the gesture also shows that the vice president has been a better complement to the president in the past two and a half years. According to Mr. Gyampoh, the NPP will miss the point if it focuses on the Mills-Mahama candidature during its campaign instead of espousing flagbearer Nana Addos alternative policy strategies. What is going to be a deciding factor as to who would emerge victorious in the 2012 elections is not so much about running mate but about ideas. "What has President Mills done, what is Akufo-Addo bringing on board, how credible are those policies than those that are being pursued by the current administration? These are the kinds of things that in my view would be crucial in determining who should be given the mantle in 2012.
