Demo Hits Volta Minister

Information reaching the Daily Guide newspaper indicates that fear has gripped Volta Regional Minister Joseph Amenowode following the decision of foot-soldiers and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) across the region to stage a mammoth demonstration against him and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Kodobissah, tomorrow. Sources close to the Regional Minister and MCE said the planned demonstration has thrown the two political heads and other NDC bigwigs in the Volta region into a state of panic. The protest is expected to attract over 2000 NDC youth and party activists in the regionand will be followed by a press conference described as The Great Revelation. It is to be organized and led by the most vibrant and populous pro-NDC group in the region, Volta NDC Youth for Action. One of the groups leaders, Alhaji Bello, who confirmed the news about the upcoming demonstration to Daily Guide, declined to disclose the reasons for the demonstration. He however hinted that it is to register their displeasure over lack of development projects in the region. Further investigations by Daily Guide have also revealed that the group would be making shocking revelations about the Regional Minister and the MCE which is likely to discredit them and eventually give President Mills a clear picture about the state of affairs and sentiments of Voltarians living in the area. It is alleged that the thought of having their dirty linen washed in public had Amenowode and Kodobissah sitting on tenterhooks to the extent that there were attempts to dissuade the leadership of the group from going ahead with the demonstration. According to Alhaji Bello, there were other attempts to halt the protests, including offering the leadership juicy contracts and other gifts; all to no avail. He said: We are not doing this for ourselves but for the whole region and some party members who sacrificed their lives for the NDC and yet have not been recognized. Till date, some of us have not even received a common thank you or even handshake. He added that in spite of the many promises made, the state of Ho, the Volta regional capital, is nothing to write home about. Go all over the region and you will see that projects are stagnant. No wonder the President has been postponing his tour of the region because the truth is that there is nothing to commission and there is no sod to cut. Alhaji Bello is known in the entire region as a die-hard NDC supporter and activist, therefore his involvement in tomorrows demonstration is a clear indication that even party members are not happy about the current situation in the country. Other members of the group are Daniel Idikoko Ho-Sava, NDC branch chairman, Vincent K. Hodoli, NDC activist, Charles Darter, a Ho branch chairman and Pascaline Kwadodah, branch womens organizer at Dodome.
